Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, people are buying more goods from their local places more than imported things because that is more fresh and cheaper. I think, this is not only help them stay healthy but also save money. For example, in many countries such as india. many people grow vegetables at home. They mostly eat home made vegetables and fruits. They dont use any chemical to plant that vegetables and fruits. These are more fresh than market. Because mostly in markets goods are made by chemicals. Additionaly, many people made butter, yougert and so on things at home. Some people also have cow and hens at home, mostly in country side area. In that way, they can get fresh milk and eggs. They can also sell these things and earn money. They dont need to go to market to buy goods. If they have fresh food, they'll stay more healthy.
while, every coin has two sides. There is also negative side. Although, it has many advantages. There is lots of disadvantages. For instance, in this generation, mostly everyone is working. They dont have time to stay at home and grow things. Everyone get tired afer working. This takes lots of time. We know local area goods are fresh but imported goods have more variety. There is many types of things that is not available in rural areas. It also saves time because many imported things can but online. We just have to stay at home, and our goods gonna be deliver at home.
I also think that, it depend on people prefrences what they want.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for choosing local goods (freshness, cost-saving, health) and evaluating whether this trend is positive or negative. The writer presents a clear position throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and repetitive, relying heavily on examples related to growing vegetables and keeping animals at home rather than exploring wider economic or community factors. While the prompt asks about consumer choices, the student focuses quite narrowly on subsistence production rather than commercial local shopping. This places the response firmly at Band 5.0 as the ideas are under-developed and generalisations are broad.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response attempts to organise ideas with some cohesive devices, such as 'For example', 'Additionaly', and 'while, every coin has two sides'. However, paragraphing is problematic; the second paragraph abruptly starts with a dependent fragment ('while, every coin has two sides') and the overall essay structure lacks smooth transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical use of transitional phrases hinders the flow. The progression of ideas becomes choppy when shifting from the perceived advantages to the disadvantages. These features align with a Band 5.0 descriptor, where organisation is present but overall progression is lacking.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'goods', 'things', 'fresh', and 'market'. There are noticeable word-choice errors, such as 'local places' instead of 'local areas', 'chemical' instead of 'chemicals', and 'prefrences' with a spelling error. While the writer attempts some less common phrasing like 'imported goods have more variety', the overall lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. This meets the criteria for Band 5.0, where vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but contains noticeable errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'that is more fresh', 'They dont use any chemical to plant that vegetables', 'Everyone get tired', and 'our goods gonna be deliver at home'. Punctuation is also erratic, notably the sentence fragment starting with 'while'. These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect typical Band 5.0 performance.
