Some consumers are increasingly choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area, rather than imported goods.

What are the reasons for this?

Is this a positive or a negative trend?

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, an increasing number of consumers are choosing to buy goods produced in their local area rather than imported products. There are several reasons for this situation. My advocacy is largely a positive development, which will be elaborated in essay citing relevant examples.

Examining the factor for this preference is that locally produced good, the most significant one is local goods are often considered fresher and butter quality because these items usually travel shorter distance before reaching consumers. This means, local products are freshly made with high quality products because of product grow in that particular region For example, as per the report people may prefer to buy fruits and vegetables or other products from local formers because these items are in good quality and fresh. Furthermore, buying local products allows people to support businesses their own communities. This is to say, consumers may feel that their support them helped tom local farmers, manufactures and small businesses remain successful and provide employment opportunities.

The positive trend for several reasons. The most significant one is that, purchasing local goods from that area benefit the environment. In another words, imported goods often have to be transported over long distances by train, air or ship, which can contribute to pollution and gas emissions. So it can reduce environmental pollution. Moreover, purchasing local goods can strengthen local economy. Beside this, money remains within the community and supports local businesses. For instance, in India many handloom products business supported by local organization expand their business in all over the word.

To conclude, it can be finally commented that there are numerous reason of buying goods from local area because they value quality and the freshness and opportunity to support their communities which has good effect that are environmental costs associated with long-distance transportation and it can increase economies of that region.
