Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, some people choose to have the goods which are grown locally as compared to internationally exported products. However, this happens because changes in import-export duty charges has risen in recent years as well as who are wary of unfamiliar supply chains. Consuming locally produced food is more convenient and healthy than imported goods. This essay shall give suitable reasons and the positive effects of buying local goods.
To commence with, an increase in tarrifs leads to relationship changes between the countries. Due to this situation happens between Canada and USA, government makes stricter rules for visa procedures. One of the main reasons to buy local goods is fertile land or freshly grown vegetables , moreover, individuals are proud to consume a variety comodities and represent fashion of the community in particular area. In addition to this, taxes have to be paid on imported good which costs doubled the price of locally available goods. For example, Indian goods in Canada are more expensive in related to the products which indian people usually buy.
On the other hand, choosing goods that are produced in a local area is a positive trend. Firstly, comsumers are more reliable on many factors while buying; such as easy return policy, better quality of products and for cheaper price. Secondly, the most obvious advantage is economic: when residents spend money locally, small businesses grow, employment rises and town become less dependent on distant coroprations. In addition, reduce transportation lowers pollution and it helps to tackle climate change which benefits society as a whole. For instance, in COVID-19 when there was a lockdown, the air quality index Delhi, India was improved and on the top of that ozone layers started healing by itself.
In conclusion, consumers prefer local goods mainly for encironmental, economic, and quality reasons and this trends is generally positive, provided it does not become extreme.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring reasons for choosing local goods and discussing whether this is a positive or negative trend. The introduction attempts to state reasons, mentioning import-export duty charges and supply chain concerns, and the body paragraphs elaborate on economic and environmental factors. However, the development of ideas in the first body paragraph is somewhat disjointed, with abrupt shifts from tariffs and visa procedures to fertile land and fashion. The position is generally clear throughout the essay, but some arguments feel underveloped or tangential. According to the Band 6 descriptor, the student addresses all parts of the task though some ideas are under-developed or unclear. A more focused elaboration on fewer points would improve this score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay is arranged into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct themes, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'In addition to this', 'On the other hand', and 'Firstly' are used to structure the text. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in awkward transitions like 'Due to this situation happens between Canada and USA'. Furthermore, paragraphing contains internal organizational issues, particularly in the first body paragraph where sentences regarding tariffs, visas, and farming lack smooth logical progression. Overall, the organization provides a coherent framework, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'import-export duty', 'supply chains', and 'coroprations'. However, there are numerous noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'tarrifs' instead of tariffs, 'comodities' instead of commodities, and 'encironmental' instead of environmental. Expressions like 'comsumers are more reliable on many factors' demonstrate awkward collocation and lexical inaccuracy. Despite these errors, meaning is generally clear and communication is not seriously impeded. This performance fits comfortably within the Band 6 criteria for Lexical Resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating relative clauses and conditional ideas. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout the text. Examples include 'consumers choose to have the goods which are grown', 'changes in import-export duty charges has risen' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'Indian goods in Canada are more expensive in related to the products'. Punctuation errors also appear, such as unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors occur regularly, the sentence structures remain varied enough to ensure the overall meaning is still communicated. This corresponds to a Band 5.5 or Band 6 performance; given the mixture of successful structures alongside frequent inaccuracies, a Band 6 is appropriate.
