Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is true that most of the customers prefer to buy traditional items which are produced in local area instead of purchasing from other nations. Although this happen due to various reasons, i believe that it brings negative and positive approach for people due to some reasons.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why some people like to purchase locally items. First and the foremost, most of the individuals are attached with their roots because they give respect their culture and ancestors. Along with they think that it would help their childrens to touch with their roots and history. In addition to it, some people prefer to things at local regions because it would cheaper instead of buying imported things so masses would save their money. To explain, when individuals buy items from local shop, they have need to go outside the city which assists them to not only save travel money but also valuable time.

On the other hand, i think that it brings both merits and demerits for people. From the positive perspective, it is best for the environment because when items are imported from one country to another, it produce toxic chemicals in environment which put adverse impact on flora and fauna. In contrast, people can deprived to explore the new culture if they piurchase only items from local area as a consquently, they would become their life bored and lose an opportunities to explore new culture attires and foods.

To conclude, while touching with cultture and cheaper products are main root of this happening, i opine that it has both advantageous and disadvantageous for people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by identifying the reasons behind buying local goods and discussing whether this is a positive or negative trend. A position is presented, stating that the trend brings both positive and negative aspects. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on reasons focuses on culture and cost, but the explanations are brief. Phrases like 'it would cheaper' and general statements about saving money lack deep elaboration. The environmental benefit is mentioned as a positive aspect, and cultural stagnation as a negative one, which satisfies the task requirements, but the arguments remain at a surface level. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs with a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition to it', and 'On the other hand'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, the sentence 'Although this happen due to various reasons, i believe that it brings negative and positive approach' contains awkward transition and referencing. Additionally, paragraph internal flow is occasionally disrupted by grammatical inaccuracies and repetitive connectors like 'due to some reasons'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different perspectives, earning a solid Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'ancestors', 'imported things', and 'toxic chemicals'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'locally items' instead of 'local items', 'it would cheaper', 'they have need to go', and 'people can deprived' instead of 'people can be deprived'. Furthermore, spelling and capitalization errors are present, such as 'i', 'childrens', and 'consquently'. While communication is not impeded, the frequent lexical inaccuracies and lack of precision prevent the response from achieving a higher band score, resulting in a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'when individuals buy items from local shop...'. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and prepositions, including 'most of the customers prefer' (unnecessary article), 'produced in local area' (missing article), 'give respect their culture' (missing preposition), and 'their life bored' instead of 'their lives boring'. Punctuation and capitalization are also weak, with lowercase 'i' used consistently for the personal pronoun. Because errors occur frequently in complex structures and basic grammatical rules are occasionally broken, the grammar score is Band 5.5.
