IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some consumers are increasingly choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area, rather than imported goods.

What are the reasons for this?

Is this a positive or a negative trend?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people choosing to buy goods that are produced in their residence area, rather than imported goods.

There can be several reasons such as quality and financial issues. People wants quality in each and every product including grocery, vegetables, fruits or any skincare product. Some people believe that if prodcuts from another states, cities or countries we are buying. They do not consists of good quality and they are also expensive as compare to local area. Because as many people have trust issues also and everyone cannot afford costly things. As people who are living in rural areas they cannot afford expensive things.

I believe this is a positive trend. As now in rural area, many farmers are growing vegetables and fruits or other spices also such as turmeric. They know how they are providing fertiliser and improving the quality of soil. Because they have knowledge about production process. As many people watching them doing hardwork in the fields. Many people start doing the trend of organic farming in their areas. Someone is doing in their lands, gardens or houses. As a result, it helps us to stay healthy. Moreover, people do not trust on imported things. Because we do not know how they are manufacturing goods. Right now, there is a trend in the social media, we should not trust on any products. Because they add artificial sweetners, palm oil which is not good for physical condition.

In conclusion, I believe it is good way to buy things that are produced in the local area. We know about quality, manufacture, less expensive and more importantly it is good for health.
