Student answer (Band 4.5)

Children are given too much leisure time that believe by parents. They feel that their time should be devoted to do more academic work. According to me children can perform

various activities other than school home work which will be discussed in coming paragraphs.

Admittedly, the first and foremost one could be physical activities. To explain it, they can play outdoor games according to their choice such as cricket , football or many more which can help them to maintain their fitness. Also they can choose their carrier in same field after study if they want. Moreover, the second one could be they can learn some practical skills such as typing which can help them in study as well as in getting good package jobs in future based computer.

Furthermore, they can work on their hobbies as well. To justify it, If they have any kind of hobbies like singing they can do more practice on that as it is good skill for their carrier. They can join singing line in future in this way they can earn money while doing what they like. Last but not the least, reading books for pleasure can help them to make more patience. For example they can read their favourite books side from their study it will help them with with skills as well as in staying on books for long hours without loosing patience.

In conclusion, I believe that children can do various things in their free time instead of home work such as physical activities and working on practical skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response fails to address the actual prompt provided, discussing children's leisure time instead of the given topic of local versus imported goods. Consequently, the ideas presented are entirely off-topic, resulting in a minimal and tangential response to the task requirements. While the writer attempts to introduce a personal position in the introduction, the content does not reflect the prompt regarding consumer choices and manufacturing origins. To improve, the student must carefully read the prompt and ensure that all generated ideas directly address the specific questions asked about why consumers buy local goods and whether this trend is positive or negative.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response demonstrates some organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but lacks clear overall progression due to the irrelevant content. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical and repetitive, such as 'Admittedly, the first and foremost one', 'To explain it', and 'Moreover, the second one'. Paragraphing is attempted, though the logical sequencing of ideas is hindered by abrupt transitions between points. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended argument. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to use a wider and more natural range of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one to support a unified central theme.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'carrier' instead of 'career', 'home work' instead of 'homework', and phrases like 'getting good package jobs in future based computer' and 'joining singing line'. These inaccuracies reflect a restricted range of vocabulary and cause some difficulty for the reader. While the student attempts some less common items, these attempts are largely inaccurate. To improve, the student should focus on learning correct collocations and word forms, expanding their repertoire of topic-specific vocabulary, and paying closer attention to spelling and precise word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing exhibits a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty or awkward, such as 'Children are given too much leisure time that believe by parents.' There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, articles, and agreement, including 'do more academic work', 'according to their choice such as cricket , football', and 'without loosing patience'. Although these errors do not completely obscure the intended meaning, they are persistent enough to cause strain for the reader. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to increase the variety of error-free complex sentence forms and improve control over basic grammatical rules and punctuation.
