Student answer (Band 6.0)
These day, it is observed that consumers are preferring locally produced goods over imported. It came to light, after the sudden fall in the demand of imported goods. Due to which, storekeepers are avoiding to keep stocks of things that not produced by local farmers.
Rise in price could be one among the major reasons of not consuming imported things. There are multiple taxes and duties while importing goods from outside which makes it costly. However, price is not the only factor that is making consumer shift to local goods. Helping local farmers is also a motive of the community. There are multiple NGOs spreading awareness and asking individuals to buy items that grown and nourished by local farmers in order to help farmers with in the area.
Storekeepers are also avoiding imported goods as it costs them higher than local goods. The profit margin varies and theirs huge difference in imported and locally produced goods. Some of the imported items expires soon as they takes days to get import. Whereas, locally produced things get deliver on time. Additionally, if any shop receives any spoiled item, it is very hard for shopkeeper to return it back from where they imported it.
I think it is a good trend, as it is helping ourselves along with our community. By consuming local goods we can save more money, avoid expiration and consume fresh items. This trend will rise local production and can also create employements in future. Farmers are getting what they deserve. To be honest, this is a win win situation for all.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the reasons for buying local goods and evaluating the trend as positive. The position is clear throughout, particularly in the final paragraph where you state, 'I think it is a good trend.' However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the reasons regarding price and supply chain logistics are relevant, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the discussion around storekeepers in both the first and third paragraphs. To reach the next level, every main idea needs to be fully extended with deeper explanations and broader real-world examples rather than brief supporting points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure that separates the introduction, reasons, and your personal opinion. However, cohesion within and between sentences is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Due to which' are awkward and disrupt the flow of information. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the pronoun usage in the opening paragraph. Paragraphing is utilised, but logical progression between sentences could be smoother. To achieve a higher band, you should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive devices while ensuring referencing is consistently precise and transitions connect ideas seamlessly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate your main points about local and imported goods, featuring some attempts at less common items such as 'profit margin' and 'supply' concepts. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. Examples include 'consumers are preferring' instead of 'prefer', 'things that not produced', 'items expires soon as they takes days to get import', and 'rise local production' instead of 'raise'. These lexical slips and word-form errors occasionally impede smooth reading. To improve, focus on mastering standard collocations and accurately using word families to express your thoughts with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and agreement issues such as 'These day' instead of 'These days', 'things that not produced', 'items expires', 'they takes', 'get deliver', and 'employements'. Additionally, articles and prepositions are mishandled in phrases like 'in future' instead of 'in the future'. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally decipher your meaning. To move up, you need to produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences and demonstrate better control over complex grammatical patterns, verb forms, and plurals.
