Student answer (Band 5.5)

In modern era , technology is increasing day by day among people not even in big cities but also in local areas. Buying things is incredible for masses. However it depends on people, certain gens buy from other countries and cities while some people buy things from their local areas. In my opinion, buying things from their small buisnesses is better than from another countries.

Commencing with the most prominent reason, if we buy goods from local areas in this way we can increase employment , growth of local area. Increasing unemployment day by day can be stopped by giving them job in their field. They will not have to pay tax to other countries. For example, most ladies start their own buisness in their village as like tiffen system, making different type clothes and decorative pieces , they make in their area and selling in their own area which is helpful to increase theie confidence and making them independence.

Morever, in this way they can save more money because they will not have to pay money on transportation. For example, if they produce clothes in their area then they can use raw material from their fields as like cotton, they have not to go for raw material in big cities.

On other side, we can not denied another view buying things from other countries because some time in loacal areas we can not provide large machines and factories so we have to depend imported goods. New generations want to go abroad for employment and they believe to those things which are made in big cities so they take interest in imported goods.

In conclusion, produced in local areas can save money, improve employment, save fuel of transportation. While other masses think that branded things can be imported from metro cities and countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you give reasons for choosing local goods, including employment and lower transport costs, and you indicate that you see this as positive. The examples of women selling food, clothes and decorative items help make the employment point more concrete. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening favours local businesses, while the paragraph beginning “On other side” introduces reasons for imported goods without clearly explaining how these affect your overall judgement. Some claims, such as local producers using cotton from their own fields, are asserted rather than explained, and the reasons consumers themselves prefer local goods could be clearer. Develop each main reason with a direct link to consumer choice and maintain a clear overall view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Commencing with” and “Morever” signal movement between points, and examples are generally placed near the ideas they support. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because links between claims are unclear—for instance, the discussion of avoiding taxes does not clearly connect to the employment argument. The paragraph about imported goods shifts direction without showing how it relates to your positive view, and the conclusion repeats points rather than resolving this contrast. Some linking expressions are also used mechanically or inaccurately. Organise the body around clearly stated reasons, then use explicit links to show how each supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “employment,” “transportation,” “raw material,” and “imported goods,” and the examples show an attempt to describe local production. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For example, “Buying things is incredible for masses” does not express a clear idea, and “save fuel of transportation” is not a natural phrase. Spelling errors such as “buisnesses,” “Morever,” and “loacal” are noticeable, while repeated use of “things” and “area” limits precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for local production, consumer preferences and economic benefits, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if we buy goods from local areas” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction and basic grammar can make ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “we can not denied,” “they have not to go,” and “they make in their area and selling,” where verb forms and clause structure are not controlled. Articles, agreement and punctuation also need attention, as in “In modern era” and the comma spacing in the opening. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check verb forms and sentence boundaries before adding more clauses.
