Student answer (Band 5.5)
Well, a good product made a customer's day happy. In this consumerist market, fulfill customer's need is a top priority for every shopkeeper. Nowadays, some customers like to buy local products rather than imported ones. In my view, this is a positive trend.
There are multiple reasons for such trend of buying local products. To begin with, if local products are in demand which means more manpower needed as a result local residents could get a job in the town. Also, people do not have to commute for a job in the different city. As a result, air an d noise pollution would be decrese. Furthermore, some local products are very famous so that people from the different cities come to get those. So, locals earn well and money stays in the town. For example, In Canada, there is one town in Ontario called Elora, which is famous for home made ice cream. People from near by cities and towns go there in summer and try the ice cream.
What is more, if a product is really popular then it would be famous worldwide. As a result, town would be popular and people would consider town as a tourist place. Therefore, Government would invest more money in the town and locals will have more facilities. However, locals are not always able to make everything so that they need to import it from other location. For example, Canada is famous for Maple syrup and India does not have maple trees to produce this syrup so, in that case India has to import it from Canada.
All in all, people are more incline towards local goods than imported goods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You answer both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing local goods and state clearly that you see this as a positive trend. The points about local employment, money remaining in the town, and attracting visitors are relevant, and the Elora ice-cream example helps illustrate one of them. However, several claims are asserted rather than fully explained—for instance, the link between local demand and reduced pollution is not made clear, and the worldwide popularity point is only briefly developed. The paragraph about imports gives a useful qualification, but it does not fully explore whether this limits the benefits you describe. Develop fewer ideas with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning and connect each example directly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a brief conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “All in all” help signal movement between points, and the examples are placed near the ideas they support. However, the progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes loose: employment, commuting, pollution, local fame and income are introduced in quick succession without enough explanation of how they connect. “What is more” also introduces a point that partly repeats the earlier discussion of popularity and tourism. The conclusion restates the general topic but does not clearly reinforce the reasons for your positive view. Group related ideas and use clearer links between claims and consequences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “local products,” “imported,” “in demand,” “manpower,” and “tourist place.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “air and noise pollution” and “homemade ice cream.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate or awkward, which can make the reader pause: “made a customer's day happy,” “fulfill customer's need,” and “more incline towards” are examples. Spelling and word-form errors such as “decrese” and “near by” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling; for example, use “meet consumers’ needs” and “are increasingly inclined to buy.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures: “if local products are in demand…” and “so that they need to import it.” This gives the response some variety, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors occur across sentence patterns and sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “if local products are in demand which means more manpower needed” lacks a clear grammatical connection and a verb in the second clause. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence construction in “a good product made a customer's day happy” and “town would be popular.” Review clause boundaries and ensure each clause has a complete subject and verb. More accurate control of these structures would make your reasoning clearer.
