Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent year , an increasing number of consumers have preferred locally produced good over imported products. This trend can be attributed to several factors , including concerns about product quality and a desire to support local businesses. In my view ,this is a largely positive development , as it can strengthen local economical and reduce environment damage.
One major season why people choose local products is that they consider them to be fresher and more trustworthy. locally produces food , for example usually travels a shorter distance before reaching consumers, which can help maintain its freshness and quality . In addition , consumers may have greater confidence in local producers because they are familiar with their reputation and production methods . another important factor is the desire to supports the local economy.
I believe this trend is predominantly positive because of its economic and environment
benefits . buying locally manufactured goods can providde valuable support to small and medium -sized enterprises, which are often important sources of employment. Furthermore, locally sourced transportation distances ,meaning that less fuel is consumed and fewer green house gases are released.
In conclusion, consumers are increasingly purchasing local products because they value their quality and freshness and want to support businesses in their communities. Although imported goods can provide greater variety and sometimes lower prices , I believe the growing perference for local products is mainly beneficial.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing local goods—freshness, trust in producers, and support for local businesses—and clearly state that you see the trend as largely positive. The points about employment and reduced transport emissions are relevant, and the conclusion restates your position while acknowledging that imports may offer variety and lower prices. However, some ideas are only briefly explained. For example, the economic benefit is asserted rather than illustrated, and the environmental point would be clearer if you explained how shorter transport distances reduce emissions. The response is also 17 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop these points. Add a specific example and extend the explanation of each main reason.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph supporting your view, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to evaluation is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, the connections are mechanical or incomplete. The second paragraph ends with the desire to support the local economy, but this point is not developed there and is picked up in the next paragraph. Some transitions and punctuation also make the flow less smooth. Group each reason with its explanation and example, and use clearer links when moving from the reasons to your evaluation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “locally produced,” “imported products,” “production methods,” “small and medium-sized enterprises,” and “greenhouse gases.” These choices make your main ideas clear, and you attempt some more specific language rather than relying only on basic terms. However, several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “season” for “reason,” “locally produces food,” “environment damage,” and “local economical.” There are also inconsistent spaces and capitalization, including “locally” after a full stop. Proofread carefully and learn common word partnerships—for example, “environmental damage,” “the local economy,” and “locally produced food”—to make your vocabulary more accurate and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “small and medium-sized enterprises, which are often important sources of employment” and a subordinate clause beginning “because.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “an increasing number … have preferred” is less suitable here than a present-tense form describing a current trend, and “the desire to supports” has an incorrect verb form. The sentence “Furthermore, locally sourced transportation distances” is also structurally incomplete: the goods, rather than the distances, need to be the subject of the clause. Review subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction, and check that each sentence has a clear subject and complete predicate.
