Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many buyers these days preffer to purchese daily items which are produced in their city insted of buying it that are shipped from other country. I totally agree with this approch because it provides a boost to your city in many ways.

Firstly, buying products which are produced from your city helps to create more jobs. Also when items are produced within the same place the cost decreases rather them getting it from outside, as many cities have huge import tax which usually is between 50% to 80% and sometimes its even 100% which eventually increases the product price. Moreover, it also heps the country to boosts their echnomy and makes it self independent.

Secondly, one of the most significant reason I belive why many people preffer locally products is the trust: when producing goods locally the government tries to make it organic and using of good quality of parts but when brought from other countiries we actually don't know the acutal truth how its is produced, although the companies mention it but they also try to hide a lot.

The best exapmle is from my country India, in 2014 the government has introduced a new policiy called " Self independent India " where they try to make sure their imports are always less then exports. In 2020 India use to import a lot of parts from Russia to make a fighter jet which was arount 70%, but now in 2026 it has decreases to 20% as most of the parts are made in India as per the new regime.

In conclusion, although its impossible to stop all the imports but it can be decreased to a certian level. Lastly as most of the people belive their country I believe it is a positive trend and also helps the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the prompt: you give reasons for choosing local goods, including employment, lower costs and trust, and clearly state that you see this as a positive trend. The India example adds relevant support, and the conclusion restates your position. This meets the task well overall, with some elements more fully addressed than others. In particular, the claims about local production being organic and of better quality, and about import taxes, are presented broadly without explaining when or why they apply. The example about fighter-jet components illustrates reduced imports, but its link to ordinary consumers’ purchasing choices could be made clearer. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example, and distinguish consumer benefits from wider national benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, two reason-focused body paragraphs, a country example and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main points. The progression is generally clear, though cohesion sometimes feels mechanical because several ideas are joined by repeated additive transitions rather than developed through explicit links. The long second body paragraph also shifts from consumer trust to a national policy example without a clear bridge. Some references, such as “it” in “buying it that are shipped,” are unclear. Use transitions that show cause, contrast or consequence, and connect the India example directly to the reason it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “locally,” “import tax,” “independent,” “imports” and “exports.” However, the range and control are limited, and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “preffer,” “purchese,” “echnomy,” “acutal” and “policiy.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “locally products,” “boosts their economy” and “self independent.” These issues keep the vocabulary from being consistently precise, even though the overall message remains understandable. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases; for example, use “locally produced goods” and “strengthen the economy” rather than translating expressions word by word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast clause with “although.” However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, tense and articles occur often enough to affect clarity. For example, “buying it that are shipped” has a faulty relative clause, while “one of the most significant reason” has a number-agreement error. In “the government has introduced,” the tense does not fit smoothly with the dated reference to 2014, and “India use to import” is not the correct past-tense form. Build accuracy by checking each sentence’s subject and verb, singular/plural forms, and tense consistency. Practise complex sentences, but keep them controlled and clear.
