Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, many consumer prefer to buy locally produced goods instead of imported goods .T here are several reasons behind this that will be discussed as follow. i think this is the positive trend. Because it supports local businesses to grow.
There are plethora of reasons people choose local goods. Local produce goods are fresh and easy to find nearby. For example, if i want to buy some fruits and vegetables we can get it fresh from near market. The second reason is it develop local businesses which create employment for the local community.
Moreover, if people buy local goods it can cut transportation cost and can reduce the air pollution caused by transportation. Consumers can directly buy it from local farms and shops directly.Since it provide more choices to the customers offering lower prices.
However imported goods also have some advantages, consumers can buy the products that are not available in their country. for example, people living in canada can also get some goods imported from india, in this way they can get the taste of their home country.
To conclude, i would say that people should buy more and more local products rather that imported goods since it can create more job opportunities and also helps the local businesses to grow. Customers can get their goods from their nearby places . It also reduces transport cost and pollution. So, i think consumers choosing goods from local area is very big positive change for our economy and in my opinion ,everyone should start buying local goods rather than imported once

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing local goods and state clearly that you see this as a positive trend. Freshness, support for local businesses, employment, and reduced transport pollution are relevant points. The example of buying fruit and vegetables from a nearby market helps illustrate freshness, while the Canada–India example acknowledges a benefit of imports. However, several ideas are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the claim that local goods offer “more choices” and lower prices is not supported, and the imported-goods point is not connected clearly to your overall evaluation. Develop fewer points with specific explanation or examples, and make the comparison between the benefits of local and imported goods more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs giving reasons and a counterpoint, and a conclusion that restates your position. This makes the main line of argument understandable. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “To conclude.” At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “Since it provide more choices” is not properly attached to the preceding idea, and “directly” is repeated in the same sentence. The paragraph about imports also feels separate from your positive judgement. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its point, and ensure each paragraph develops one main idea in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your ideas, including “locally produced goods,” “employment,” “transportation cost,” and “air pollution.” There is also an attempt at less common wording in “plethora,” although “There are a plethora of reasons” sounds unnatural in this context. Some word choices and collocations are imprecise or repetitive, such as “local produce goods,” “near market,” and “very big positive change.” Spelling and word-form slips, including “rather that” and “imported once,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and more precise phrasing, and check spelling and word forms carefully. A broader range of accurate expressions would make the argument more fluent and specific.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which create employment” and a conditional example beginning “if I want to buy.” However, control is uneven, and errors occur in agreement, sentence boundaries, capitalization, and punctuation. For example, “many consumer prefer” needs plural agreement, while “it develop local businesses” and “it provide more choices” have subject–verb agreement errors. The opening also contains a sentence fragment beginning “Because,” and the clause starting “Since” is incomplete. Capitalization and spacing are inconsistent, as in “i” and “goods .T here.” Practise building complete sentences and checking agreement and punctuation; accurate control of these patterns will make your meaning easier to follow.
