Student answer (Band 5.5)
A majority of people are increasingly choosing to buy goods locally rather than those imported ones. In my opinion, I strongly believe that this is a positive trend because I think that the main reason behind this, is that goods are might cheaper in the local market than than buying those imported ones.
Most consumers prefer to buy goods locally because they save a lot of money than buying expensive goods. They are becoming aware that there are almost no difference when it comes to quality. They might be thinking about the size and portion but they can increase the quantity, which is cheaper, rather than buying the imported ones but in lower quantity. For instance, consumer has a big family, so they consider buying more goods rather than buying big ones but almost no difference in quality. Therefore, instead of buying imported goods they tend to be practical based on how big families that they have.
Additionally, consumers are becoming aware in helping our local producers rather than letting those foreign countries to become more successful. They tend to support our local producers to help them with their business. Moreover, this will boost our economy by supporting our local markets, this includes those small businesses that help to produce a quality goods but cheaper.
In conclusion, with the increase of consumers choosing to buy local goods that help our locals to become more succesful with their businesses. That will probably increase the percentage of our economic growth. Therefore, these benefits are the reason why this become a postive trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing local goods, including lower cost and support for local producers, and state that you see this as a positive trend. The point about helping local businesses and the economy is relevant, but it is asserted rather than explained in detail. Your discussion of price and quality is also difficult to follow: the example about a large family and buying “more goods” does not clearly show how this choice compares with imported products. To strengthen the response, explain each reason through a clear cause-and-effect link and add a specific, relevant example. Keep your positive position consistent and make the conclusion summarise the reasons more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs also group related ideas: affordability is discussed first, followed by support for local producers. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “Moreover” and “Therefore” help signal connections. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, and the progression within the first body paragraph is hard to follow, particularly the shift from quality to size, quantity and family needs. The conclusion repeats the economic benefit without clearly bringing together both reasons. Use clearer topic sentences and make each example directly support the point before moving on; also check that references such as “this” have an unmistakable meaning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “imported goods,” “local producers,” “quality” and “economic growth,” so the main ideas can be understood. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive, especially “buy goods locally” and “local producers.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “there are almost no difference,” “increase the quantity” and “become more successful” when referring to foreign countries. Spelling errors such as “succesful” and “postive” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise expressions for price, employment and community benefits, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “rather than” and “which.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction occur often enough to make some ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “goods are might cheaper,” “there are almost no difference,” and “consumer has a big family.” The sentence beginning “Moreover, this will boost our economy” also joins two independent ideas with a comma. Practise building accurate basic clauses first, then combine them using one clear subordinate clause at a time. Pay particular attention to subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation when joining sentences.
