Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some Consumers are increasingly choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area, rather than buying imported goods. I see this as a positive trend and the essay will highlight reason for this.
Nowadays, locally made goods are gaining more popularity than imported ones. This trend is observed in Business to Business & Business to customer Model. The primary reason is less processing time. The Businesses and Customers are looking for faster options to get the job done. The secondary reason is, the imported goods have to cover custom clearances and cover a massive freight cost. This Clearances takes not only takes longer lead time but also adds more to the final value when the product gets invoiced. Also, once the product arrives and is finally used in operations/ peronal usage, there are chances in near future to get the repair services done. This brings us to the third problem. Companies who provided imported goods will take more time to process the refurbishing request while the local companies will react in a prompt manner.
For Example; in 2026, Prime minister of canada- Mark Carney announced a nationwide movement to choose locally made goods to reduce the dependancy on US Companies.
Hence, Local companies and locally made goods contribute a lot to smoother business processes and is a better choice for cutomers. They not only reduce the cost but also make sure the services are given at proper time.
Hence, the essay covers all the reasons towards the choice of locally made goods is a psoitive trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view that buying local goods is positive and offer relevant reasons, including shorter delivery times, lower freight and customs costs, and easier access to repairs. The example about Canada also supports the local-purchasing theme, although its connection to the practical reasons could be explained more fully. However, the response does not meet the required minimum: it contains 241 words, and 17 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Several points are asserted rather than developed—for instance, the claim that local firms provide faster repairs would benefit from a specific explanation or example. The conclusion repeats the position but does not add much. Develop the reasons and support them with clearer evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, an example, and a concluding statement. The ideas about speed, costs, and repairs are broadly grouped together, so the reader can follow the main argument. However, progression is weakened by mechanical sequencing such as “The primary reason,” “The secondary reason,” and “This brings us to the third problem,” followed by repeated “Hence” in the ending. The example is also separated from the explanation it is meant to support, and the final two sentences largely repeat the same conclusion. Use clearer paragraph divisions for reasons and evaluation, and connect each example directly to the point it illustrates.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “freight cost,” “custom clearances,” “lead time,” and “repair services,” which helps communicate the business and consumer context. There is also an attempt to use more formal language, such as “nationwide movement” and “contribute.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “cover custom clearances,” “final value when the product gets invoiced,” and “process the refurbishing request.” Spelling and capitalisation are inconsistent, as in “dependancy,” “cutomers,” and repeated unnecessary capitals. These issues make the expression less precise, though the main meaning remains understandable. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling and consistent use of formal vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “Also, once the product arrives…” and a relative clause in “Companies who provided imported goods…”. However, control is uneven, and several sentences contain errors that make the reader pause. For example, “The Businesses and Customers are looking” uses unnecessary capitalisation, while “This Clearances takes not only takes longer lead time” has faulty agreement and a repeated verb. The sentence “Hence, Local companies and locally made goods contribute… and is a better choice” also shifts incorrectly between plural and singular agreement. Punctuation around the example and semicolons is inconsistent. Build accuracy by checking subject–verb agreement, sentence boundaries, and verb patterns before adding complex clauses.
