Student answer (Band 4.5)
Some purchasers are increasingly choosing to buy goods that are manufactured in their local area, rather than imported goods. This essay will explain the main reasons for this change, and I believe it is a positive trend.
The main advantage is that shoppers in our local areas are easy to access them. For example, if you live in the local area, many shops do not have imported items because imported items are very expensive and are not easily accessible. Moreover, many shop keeper can not affoard the price because they need to make their profits also from that product. If you are a local citizen, I also believe we do not have to use imported items on a daily basis. That makes shopkeepers unprofitable and causes them to lose their own money. In addition, this is a good idea if consumers find a way to make that product and sell it in the market; it can be useful in many different ways, such as they do not having to pay tax and there is no need to wait for imported goods.
Some disadvantages are also highlighted; customers have no idea about the ingredetis and its very risky for their health. For example, local products are challenging to sell in the market. However, many of us know the quality of the imported goods. So local consumers can not be comprte with the imported items. Furthermore, it does not matter how good your product is; purchasers are also very clever; they can catch you very easily.
In conclusion, Many shoppers now choose goods from their own area rather than products from other countries. Because local items are tax-free, and there is no need to wait long for their items.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear view that choosing local goods is positive and give some relevant reasons, including lower costs, availability, and avoiding delays for imported products. However, the task asks both why consumers make this choice and whether the trend is positive or negative, and the reasons are not consistently explained. The point about shopkeepers’ profits is difficult to connect to consumers’ choices, while the claim that local products are tax-free is asserted without support. The paragraph on disadvantages introduces health risks and competition, but these points are unclear and do not lead to a balanced evaluation. Develop a few relevant reasons with specific explanations or examples, and make your final judgement directly answer the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
Your response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In addition,” and “However.” However, the ideas do not progress clearly within the paragraphs: the discussion moves from access and prices to shopkeepers’ profits, then to making products and taxes without showing how each point connects. The disadvantages paragraph is also difficult to follow, particularly the shift from health risks to imported goods’ quality and then to consumers being “clever.” The conclusion repeats some earlier claims rather than clearly summarising your reasons and position. Organise each paragraph around one main idea and use clearer references and links between supporting sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “manufactured,” “imported goods,” “consumers,” and “profits,” and you attempt phrases such as “increasingly choosing” and “local products.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “shoppers … are easy to access them,” “make that product,” and “catch you very easily.” Spelling errors, including “affoard,” “ingredetis,” and “com्रpte,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe local goods as “readily available,” say producers “make and sell” a product, and explain that local businesses may “compete with imported brands.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure (“if you live in the local area”) and a contrast introduced by “However.” The main message is generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement occur regularly. For example, “many shop keeper can not affoard” needs a plural subject and matching verb, while “they do not having to pay tax” uses an incorrect verb form. In “customers have no idea about the ingredetis and its very risky,” the pronoun reference and sentence connection are faulty. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation, such as “In conclusion, Many.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb patterns after auxiliaries, and clear sentence boundaries.
