Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is commonly observed that nowdays people are more prefer to buy goods which produced by local people rather than depend on goods that are imported from other countries. In this essay, i will discuss some reasons behind this situation. While there are a few drawbacks of this situation,i believe its overall a positive development.

There are many reasons why people are choosing more and more local produced goods over imported goods. The prominent reason is that there are not any taxes on local products things like vegetables, fruits etcetera.Hence, that is why they give more preference to local products.Secondly, they think that local products are fresh made and they keep with less even with no preservatives which are really harmful for human health.Because ,imported goods take time to reach destination and they stored with lot of preservatives and chemicals .

However, there are few drawbacks of fully dependent on the local manufactured goods and products. The first and foremost drawback is that it hinders the growth of international businesses. It requires lots of money to import and export the products via ships, aeroplanes and trains.Secondly, quality is the farmost thing today as international brands are really good and things are long lasting.

On the other hand there are many benefits of depend on local areas to purchase goods. To begin with, there will be an increase in local businesses and manufacturing industries. So there will be require only less amount of cost, because there is huge tax on international goods as they imported from other countries.Apart from this people will live healthy life because they will comsume fresh made food like vegetables, fruits etcetera. Moreover, when businesses import goods , they require lots of packaging material like polythene, plastic which are harmful for the environment Besides this, they imported through ships , aeroplanes and trains which need petrol, diesel and by travelling miles they are creating land, water and air pollution.

In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that there are many causes why people give more preference to goods made in their countries.Although there are some disadvantages of giving preference to the local produced goods ober international goods,I believe that its overall a positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions: you explain why consumers may choose local goods, citing perceived freshness and fewer preservatives, and you clearly state that you see this as a positive trend. Your discussion of benefits is relevant and includes effects on local businesses, health, and pollution. This meets the core requirements well. To make the response more fully developed, explain the reasons with greater precision—for example, clarify when local goods are actually cheaper, since the claim that they have no taxes is too broad. The drawbacks paragraph also focuses partly on the cost of importing and the quality of international brands, rather than clearly explaining the consequences of consumers choosing local products. More specific examples and a more balanced explanation would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and drawbacks, a paragraph supporting your position, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from reasons to evaluation, and signposts such as “Secondly,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, the organisation is sometimes mechanical, and the relationship between paragraphs is not always clear: “However” introduces drawbacks, while “On the other hand” then returns to benefits without clearly showing how the contrast is being developed. Some sentences also run together, particularly in the paragraph about packaging and transport, making connections harder to follow. Use clearer paragraph links and divide long sentences so each main point and its explanation are easy to identify.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “preservatives,” “international businesses,” “manufacturing industries,” and “pollution,” which allows you to discuss several relevant aspects of the issue. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “the first and foremost drawback.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “local produced goods,” “fresh made,” and “depend on local areas to purchase goods” do not sound natural. Spelling and word-form errors, including “nowdays,” “farmost,” “comsume,” and “ober,” also reduce precision. Aim to learn common word partnerships for this topic and proofread spelling; more accurate phrasing would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “while,” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “people are more prefer” has an incorrect verb construction, while “there will be require only less amount of cost” is not grammatically formed. Agreement and article use also need attention, as in “they stored with lot of preservatives” and “people will live healthy life.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries are sometimes faulty, especially where sentences are joined without spaces or a full stop. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check each clause for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
