Student answer (Band 6.0)
Importing goods have became very common in recent decades. However, it has been seen that people are prefering to buy local products now rather than spending money on international products. There are several reasons behind this development. From my perspective, it is very positive approach because buying local items can motivate local producers. This essay will outline the reasons behind this development.
To begin, the main reasons why consumer prefer to choose local items is the price. There are high chances that goods and services that are coming from another part of the world may be expensive. It is mainly due to the additional duties and tax that imposed by the government. Furthermore, companies have to pay additional transportation charge in order to import food and other items. These charges put extra burden to the sellers. As a results, they are being forced to sell the products with inflated prices.
Furthermore, in the contemporary world, it has been seen that countries are focusing on their economy and to reduce the relience, they often promotes local items. For example, due to economic conflicts with USA, Canada has started a campaign and encouraged citizens to buy made in Canada products. Consequently, people with pride on their nationality supports the campaign and give up spending on foreign goods.
I particularly find it very positive and encouraging development because it does not only support local products but also support their own economy. Although, wealthy people may spend money to buy such products,a majority of local population would support their local manufacturing units.
To sum up, despite the quality of goods, people choose the pride and support their communities. This development is largely praised by the government authorities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing local goods, including lower costs and campaigns promoting domestic products, and clearly state that you see the trend as positive. The example of Canada makes the discussion more concrete. However, the reasons and evaluation are not developed equally. The price explanation is supported through duties and transport costs, while the point about national pride is brief, and the positive effects are mostly asserted rather than explained. The conclusion introduces “quality” without having discussed it in the essay. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how buying locally benefits producers, workers, or communities, and make sure the conclusion reflects the reasons and position established in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two reason paragraphs, a paragraph stating your evaluation, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin,” “Furthermore,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, the paragraph beginning “I particularly find it very positive” repeats the claim that local buying supports the economy without extending the previous discussion. The final sentence about government approval also feels detached from the conclusion. Use referencing and transitions more precisely, and organise the positive effects alongside the reasons so that each paragraph develops a distinct, connected point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “additional duties,” “transportation charge,” “economic conflicts,” and “local manufacturing units.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate word forms, spelling errors, and unnatural collocations, such as “relience,” “inflated prices,” and “people with pride on their nationality.” “Importing goods” and “international products” are also repeated where more precise alternatives could improve variety. Aim to use familiar collocations accurately rather than reaching for a more formal phrase that does not fit naturally. Proofreading spelling and checking how words combine would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including cause-and-effect sentences with “because” and “as a result,” and a concession beginning “Although.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “Importing goods have became,” “people are prefering,” and “companies … often promotes,” which show problems with verb forms and subject–verb agreement. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “it is very positive approach” and “the main reasons why consumer prefer … is the price.” Punctuation is inconsistent in “Although, wealthy people…” and around the comma before “a majority.” Review agreement, verb forms, and article use, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
