Student answer (Band 5.5)
Demand for international products is increasing day by day. But few people still wants to buy things manufactured in their locality instead of those which are brought from other countries. This essay will illustrate the reasons behind preference of people to buy local products and positivity or negativity of this trend.
First and foremost, some customers prefer things made in front of their eyes. Because they have some trust issue. Maybe they want to promote their country in this way. Additionally, they do not want to experience new things due to their reliability with the old things. Moreover, prices of imported products are mostly high rates and are beyond the affordibility of many buyers. This is one of the main reasons behind this trend.
In the second place, if I talk about this trend positivitiy or negativity. In my opinion this is a negative trend. People have to experience imported things. Such things have better quality and specification in comparison with local products. Last but not the least, if imported products are high in prices then definitely they are more durable then those which are locally manufactured. So either we buy cheap product again and again or some good quality product which is little expensive is the same thing. Both have same cost effect.
To conclude, I would like to say that it is good to promote our country products but if we have a chance to buy some imported product of some good quality and we can afford it as well, we would prefer the imported one.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you suggest reasons for choosing local goods, including trust, familiarity, supporting the country, and lower prices, and you state that you view the trend negatively. However, the reasons are listed rather than explained, and some are unclear—for example, “made in front of their eyes” does not clearly explain what consumers trust about local production. Your negative position is also supported mainly by broad claims that imported goods have better quality and last longer, without a specific example or qualification. The conclusion introduces a more conditional preference for imported goods, which makes your overall view less consistent. Develop fewer reasons with clear explanations and examples, and keep your position consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, as several points are placed one after another without showing how they connect. Linking phrases such as “First and foremost,” “Additionally,” and “Last but not the least” are repetitive or mechanical, while “In the second place, if I talk about this trend positivitiy or negativity” interrupts the flow rather than introducing the argument naturally. The conclusion also shifts towards a conditional preference for imports. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each explanation to the main point, and make references and transitions more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “imported products,” “locally manufactured,” “durable,” and “affordability,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the argument difficult to interpret. For example, “trust issue,” “better quality and specification,” and “same cost effect” do not express your intended meanings precisely. There are also spelling errors, including “affordibility” and “positivitiy,” and repeated use of general words such as “things” and “good.” Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing consumer choices, product quality, and price, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic complex structures, such as “if imported products are high in prices then definitely they are more durable…” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, sentence formation, articles, and punctuation occur frequently enough to affect readability. Examples include “few people still wants,” “Because they have some trust issue,” and “if I talk about this trend positivitiy or negativity.” The opening also joins contrasting ideas with “But” in a way that makes the paragraph feel abrupt, and spacing after punctuation is inconsistent. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete sentence construction first, then use a wider range of clauses while checking each sentence for clear grammatical relationships.
