Student answer (Band 6.0)

Local produced products are getting more popularity these days rather than imported products.

Supporting local businesses and bad items and high taxes could be the possible reason for this. I believe it is a positive trend to boost the country's economy and consuming right products.

Firstly, individuals now a days are well qualified and understands the value of local economy and the importance of businesses around their area. Their focuses is now shifted to buy products locally rather than importing products from other country. As a result, manufacturing and sales of items will boost which in ultimate will create more jobs. For example, India statred a campaign few years with the slogan 'Made in India' to support local manufacturers and retailers. Moreover, people will build healthier relations with the businessowners which has long term benefit to support each other.

Secondly, while importing products from different countries gives lot of inconvenience. It is unsure whether the product will be of good quality or not. So, the returning of the item or refund of the payment becomes more stressful. Additionally, due to incertainity in the international market, the price of the product varies a lot which makes customers less loyal. High taxes and tariffs are impose by the governments to cover the costs realted to manufacturing and shipping of the product. For instance, USA imposed high tariifs on different countries on imported goods.

To conclude, I believe buying products from local shops and stores is a positive trend which is increasing day by day to support local businessowners in terms of boosting country's ecomony and choosing the suitable product for themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing local goods and clearly state that you see this as a positive trend. The points about supporting nearby businesses, creating jobs, product quality and import costs are relevant, and the “Made in India” example helps illustrate the economic argument. This meets the task well overall. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that local products mean “consuming right products” is unclear, and the discussion of quality and refunds could explain more directly why buying locally resolves these concerns. To strengthen the response further, develop each reason with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and make the positive effects more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing expressions such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. The progression is generally logical, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “Supporting local businesses and bad items and high taxes” does not clearly preview the reasons, and the shift from product quality to international price changes in the second body paragraph could be signposted more carefully. Some references, such as “which” in “businessowners which has long term benefit,” are also difficult to follow. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one clearly defined line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “local businesses,” “manufacturing,” “retailers,” “imported goods,” and “tariffs,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form and spelling errors reduce precision: “Local produced products,” “their focuses,” “incertainity,” and “ecomony” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “consuming right products” and “the returning of the item.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the main argument, but they make parts of it less fluent. Aim for accurate, natural combinations—for example, “locally produced goods” and “support the domestic economy”—and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “whether,” and “while.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “individuals … understands” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Their focuses is now shifted” has problems with number and verb construction. In “High taxes and tariffs are impose,” the verb form is incorrect, and “while importing products … gives” does not form a complete, well-controlled contrast. Work on agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction, then check each sentence for a clear subject and main verb. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
