Student answer (Band 6.0)
Now a days,it has been becoming increasingly common amoung people to purchase goods that are made locally, rather than the imported ones. Many believe it as a positive development, in terms of economical gain, affordibility and promotion of local buisnesses. While others believe that it has made accessing better quality imported goods more difficult. In my opinion, although imported goods nsometimes provide greater quality in certain kind of things, buying local goods has generally many advantages.
On one hand, certain items are not made upto mark as the imported ones, locally, especially in a third world country like Pakistan. There are many things that are only better if imported. For instance, smart phones, watches and other technological things.Even some food items are better in terms of quality when imported. For example, choclates, peanut butter and many other things.Furthermore, it provide the users the sense of satisfaction, that thier money is giving them atleast quality.
On other hand, local items, if available in good quality provide numerous benefits. Not only they are resonably priced, which can provide a real benefit for middle class population where budget is a huge issue, but it also helps in economical gain of the country. It means that money rather than going to other countries, stays inside our own country and goes to its own people, which ultimatly proves to be a great financial gain for our country.Furthermore, the local things are easy to find as well.So in my opinion, buying local things is a more positive trend.
In conclusion, imported goods are expensive no doubt but provide better results in several aspects. But the increasing trend of buying local goods ,due to affordiblility or easy accessibilily,is for sure a better trend in terms of economical gain andaffordibility

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing local goods, including affordability, easier access and keeping money within the country, and you clearly judge the trend to be positive overall. The contrast with imported products also helps show that you recognise possible disadvantages. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that local purchases create “economical gain” would be stronger if you explained how this supports jobs or local producers. The discussion of imported goods focuses mainly on quality and examples, but does not fully clarify how this affects consumers’ choices. Develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On one hand,” “On other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to follow, and the position that local goods are preferable is clear by the end. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, the progression within paragraphs is occasionally mechanical, with repeated “Furthermore” and “So,” and some links between claims are abrupt. For instance, the move from local affordability to money staying in the country could be explained more smoothly. Use a wider range of linking methods and make references between sentences more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “imported goods,” “quality,” “reasonably priced,” and “financial gain.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “positive development” and “sense of satisfaction.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word choices are noticeable and sometimes distract the reader: “affordibility,” “buisnesses,” and “economical gain” are examples. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “local things” and “better.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, such as “economic benefits” and “locally produced goods.” A broader, more precise vocabulary would help express distinctions between price, quality and support for domestic businesses.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a contrastive structure in “although imported goods sometimes provide greater quality… buying local goods has generally many advantages” and a “Not only…but also” construction. These attempts show some range, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in sentence formation and grammatical control remain, including “it provide the users,” “where budget is a huge issue,” and the awkward construction “buying local goods has generally many advantages.” Articles, agreement and punctuation also need attention; several sentences run together after full stops, and commas are inconsistently placed. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, then revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
