Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, there is on going debate about whether it is a positive or negative trend if people choose the local products over the imported ones. This trend is growing mainly because of incresing awreness and support the local products. I believe that it is positive trend because it helps to the local ecenomy.
One of the main reason behind this trend is that the consumers want to supoort the local producers and small business. By purchasind local products will increase the job opportunities and by purchesing local product also ensure that the money remain stay in their community. Secondly, local products are much fresher as compared to imported one. So for the freshe food and its quality people buy from local business. Furthermore, some consumers also believe that buying imported products will increase the pollution so they go for the local options.
I believe that it is a positive trend because it will boost the economy. To explain further, to buy the imported products, governments need to pay an extra for shipping cost. So if people start to buy more local products then government do not need to pay extra. As a result, it helps to increse the local business. Beside this, it will also help to reduce the carbon emission. For example, to import a product they need to use ships, plains or heavy vechiles which emit too much carbon gases and put the impact on environment. So by suppoting local products will reduce the pollution of transportations.
To conclude, purchesing the local products has a positive outcome like job opportunites, boost local economy, obtain fresher producta and reduce the environment harms. Still, imported products also bring the varieties of products so it should not be completely dischard instead they should put some limit on it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the prompt: you give reasons for choosing local goods and clearly state that you see this as a positive trend. Support for local businesses, fresher food and reduced transport emissions are relevant reasons, and the examples of shipping and vehicles help explain your view. The economic argument is also clear, but the claim that governments pay extra shipping costs is not fully explained, since the task concerns consumers’ choices and the link between those costs and local economic benefits needs clarification. Your final point that imported goods offer variety adds balance, though it is brief. To develop the response further, explain each main reason more precisely and support it with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph supporting your positive view, and a conclusion. The progression from local jobs and freshness to economic and environmental benefits is generally easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “Secondly,” “Furthermore,” “To explain further,” and “As a result” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear: “So for the freshe food and its quality” does not smoothly explain the preceding point, and the shipping-cost argument moves quickly from government spending to local business. The conclusion also lists several benefits rather than synthesising the argument. Use clearer references and make the relationship between each claim and its consequence explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “local producers,” “job opportunities,” “carbon emission,” and “environment,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “shipping cost” and “local options.” However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “incresing,” “awreness,” “purchesing,” and “vechiles,” and several word combinations or forms are inaccurate: “support the local products,” “freshe food,” and “environment harms.” These issues limit precision and sometimes make the reader pause. Build a reliable range of topic vocabulary and check spelling, word forms, and natural collocations; for example, use “support local producers” and “environmental harm.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if people start to buy more local products then government do not need to pay extra” and a relative clause in “which emit too much carbon gases.” The main ideas remain understandable, but grammatical control is uneven. Examples include the singular-plural mismatch in “One of the main reason,” the incomplete construction “By purchasind local products will increase,” and missing or incorrect articles and agreement in “government do not need” and “it helps to the local economy.” Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly the missing space after “extra.” To improve, make the subject explicit in introductory -ing clauses, check singular and plural agreement, and proofread articles and sentence boundaries.
