Student answer (Band 5.5)

Well, buying products its a individual choice from where he/she can purchase. But as per my perspective when we buy things from local it is beneficial for the society. While other feel purchasing those goods which are imported from one place to another is also essential. So i am going to discuss both the positive or negative trend in upcoming paragarphs, and share my own viewpoints on this.

On the one hand, When we buy the things which are locally produce its good for local people to gain some money and survive in the society. This thing is also motivate the unemployed people that if they start some kind of work people support them, by buying goods from them. While it also boost the economy when we support local workers.Other thing is that it is also good for the environment because when goods import or export from one place to another it needs transportation, whether its by air or road so its futher need fossil fuel which leave harmful gases in the environment . And that thing is not good for the society as we also need to save the fuel for future generation, becaus eexcessive usage of this make this thing disappear.

While on the other perspective, i feel that people also buy things from outside because it also expand their business and also the labour. When we order anything so the product go through various steps from supplier ,manufacturer, retailere and then it reach to customers, So it generate revenue for them. Also we get new variety or material things which is not available in our hometown so its good

To conclude, i think individuals should purchase hte goods from both the retails like from local and from outside as it generate revenue for both , but i am more partial towads the local product, as if everone is doing this then its good for their local area or surrounding.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you explain that buying locally supports workers and the local economy, and can reduce transport-related emissions, while imported goods offer variety and business opportunities. Your conclusion also gives a clear preference for local products while recommending a balance. These are relevant reasons, but some are not fully explained: for example, the point that imports “expand their business and also the labour” is unclear, and the environmental argument could be linked more directly to consumers’ choices. Develop each reason with a specific example or clearer explanation, and make the comparison between the benefits and drawbacks more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting perspectives, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “While on the other perspective,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some linking is mechanical or confusing, particularly the repeated use of “while,” and several ideas run together in long sentences. The transition from local employment to environmental benefits could be clearer, as could the explanation of how imported goods create business opportunities. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main point, then organise supporting details in a clear sequence and use pronouns and connectors precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “local workers,” “economy,” “transportation,” “fossil fuel,” “harmful gases,” and “variety.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive. For instance, “locally produce” does not express the intended idea naturally, and “expand their business and also the labour” is difficult to interpret. Spelling and word-form slips such as “paragarphs,” “retailere,” and “everone” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range around local production, employment, emissions, and consumer choice, and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional idea (“if they start some kind of work people support them”) and a reason clause about transportation and fuel. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation recur. Examples include “buying products its a individual choice,” “This thing is also motivate,” and “when goods import or export,” where verb forms, agreement, or sentence structure are faulty. Several sentences also join multiple ideas without clear punctuation, making them harder to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns and verb forms, and divide long sentences into shorter units. Aim to retain some complex structures while checking each clause for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
