Some customers are increasingly choosing to buy goods that are produced in their local area, rather than imported goods. In this essay, I am going to shed light on the positive or a negative trend.

Firstly, I think some people prefer to buy goods that are produced in their local area because there is less chemicals and they are fresh as well. Moreover, fresh food is good for our health and it is cheap in price. Furthermore, for the food produced in our own country we do not need to pay any imported tax.

On the other hand, some people tend to buy imported goods because there will be more variety in food and we are able to buy all kind of food in every season. We can also able to enjoy the type of food that is not available in our own country. Moreover, if there is imported food available in our country then we are able to get more and healthy goods. Furthermore, there is more competition in the market and customers can consume better products in a very cheap rate.

In conclusion, In my prespective, it is a positive trend as I mentioned above people are able to get more better produced food in very cheap rate, as well as people can enjoy the food that are not available in their own country and if we import things from one country to another country it will also boost the country's economy and it will also improve international relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both the reasons for choosing local goods and whether the trend is positive or negative, and your conclusion states that it is positive. However, the position is not consistently supported: the second body paragraph focuses on advantages of imported food, so its connection to your view about buying local goods is unclear. The conclusion then shifts to benefits of importing, including international relationships, without explaining how these support the stated position. Reasons such as freshness and avoiding import taxes are relevant but need clearer explanation or an example. The response is also 224 words, below the required 250; the 27 words copied from the task prompt do not count toward the minimum. Develop the ideas and keep the discussion focused on the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic essay structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help identify stages. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the second paragraph discusses imported goods rather than developing the reasons for buying local goods, and the conclusion combines these opposing points without resolving them. Several linking words, including “Moreover” and “Furthermore,” are repeated and sometimes connect ideas that are not clearly related. For example, the link between imported food, “healthy goods” and market competition needs explanation. Group related reasons together, use clearer references, and make each paragraph advance one main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main topic, including “local area,” “imported goods,” “variety” and “competition in the market.” Some topic-related expressions show an attempt to be specific. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “cheap in price,” “in a very cheap rate” and “more better produced food.” Repetition of “food,” “people” and “country” also limits flexibility. Spelling errors such as “prespective” reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and vary your wording—for instance, describe food as “affordable” or “freshly produced,” and refer to “locally produced goods” rather than repeating the same phrase.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use basic structures to express reasons and contrast, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “there is less chemicals,” where the plural noun requires “are,” and “we can also able to enjoy,” which should be “we can also enjoy” or “we are also able to enjoy.” In the conclusion, “the food that are not available” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “people are able to get more better” contains an incorrect comparative construction. Capitalisation after the full stop in “In conclusion, In my…” also needs attention. Practise accurate agreement and modal patterns, and divide long sentences into clearer units.
