Student answer (Band 6.0)

Regionally manufactured goods are comsumed heavily in-compare to the imported good in the current country's financial condition. Due to high import duty, locals found alternative option in their own backyard which is a positive trend for the country's economy.

Instead of paying high price of imported items, consumer started looking of the local option. As two country inflated their import taxes the price benefit was marginal. In addition, due to the strict checking at border the transportation also delayed hence the shelf life for some products gets reduced and due to that the shopkeeper have to sale it with lower profit margin. Hence shopkeepers are keep looking for the local alternatives for imported items which raised the demand of the native products.

Consuming domestic products boost country's economy as the money will flow inside the country itself. When anyone buy any domestic product than the domestic company gets profitable and expand their operations. New operations means new job creation and that leads to more eligible consumers. That is the reason, consumer should priortise the local product than imported to support the financial independence from other country.

"Vocal for Local" movement in India is one such example. India was extreamly dependent on imported medical equipment due to a lack of the domestic market. Howeve with Vocal for Local movement, domestic medical manufecture industry got educated and start preparing international standard equipments which were consumed by the local indians.

In the conclusion, consuming local products will always benefitted to individual as well as the local manufecturer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: high import duties and border delays are offered as reasons for choosing local goods, and you clearly judge the trend positively. The economic explanation—money staying in the country, business expansion and job creation—is relevant, while the Indian “Vocal for Local” example gives the response some specific support. This meets the task well overall, but the reasons are not equally developed: the discussion of import taxes and reduced shelf life is difficult to follow, and the medical-equipment example needs clearer explanation of how the movement changed production. To strengthen the response, explain each cause-and-effect link more fully and qualify broad claims such as local consumption “will always” benefit individuals and manufacturers. The position is clear, but some ideas need fuller support for a more complete treatment of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on economic benefits, an example, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from why consumers choose local goods to why this may benefit the country. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Hence,” and “That is the reason” help signal relationships, and the example is placed in a separate paragraph. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “As two country inflated their import taxes” does not clearly identify the countries or explain the comparison, and the link between border checks, reduced shelf life and shopkeepers’ choices needs more explicit sequencing. Use clearer references and transitions that show the precise relationship between claims, rather than relying repeatedly on cause-and-effect markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “import duty,” “transportation,” “shelf life,” “demand,” “financial independence,” and “domestic market.” These choices show an attempt to discuss trade and economic effects beyond basic everyday language. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “comsumed,” “priortise,” “extreamly,” and “manufecture” are misspelled, while phrases such as “found alternative option in their own backyard” and “domestic company gets profitable” are not natural in this context. Some repetition of “local,” “domestic,” and “imported” also limits flexibility. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, such as “choose a local alternative,” “become more profitable,” and “manufacturing industry.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is some variety in sentence forms, including subordinate clauses and cause-and-effect constructions, as in “When anyone buy any domestic product than the domestic company gets profitable and expand their operations.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction are persistent enough to limit accuracy. For example, “consumer started looking” needs a plural subject or an article, “shopkeepers are keep looking” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “which raised the demand” does not fit smoothly with the surrounding tense. The final sentence, “consuming local products will always benefitted,” also combines incompatible verb forms. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and maintaining consistent tense, and revise complex sentences into clear clauses before adding further complexity.
