Student answer (Band 6.0)
These days, an increasing number of customers opt to purchase locally produced items rather than imported ones. This essay will enlighten the causes and also discuss that it is a positive trend, as it benefits the national economy.
One of the major reasons behind it is that people get fresh products at cheaper prices. Goods like vegetables, fruits, and dairy products are more likely to be bought within a few days of production. These items are available in the market as soon as they are harvested. While in case of imported items, these things go through a lengthy process, which results in poor quality. Another reason is that locally produced goods have better customer service in case of any complaint about the item. it is always easy to reach out to the manufacturer in order to replace or repair any product. Things like electrical or mechanical equipments are easy to return, which is not the case in imported goods. Also, Customisation of the products can be done according to customer's needs.
Without a doubt, it is a positive trend beacuse it make the coutry wealthier. There is no need to pay taxes to any other country and the amount remains within the territory which helps in the overall development including infrastructure, healthcare and educational services. More and more businesses will develop and make the impact more stronger. Therefore, this trend helps in the whole nations development.
In conclusion, buying goods from local areas rather than imported goods is beacuse it is cheaper and and products are freshly available. It is a positive trend as it helps in building the economy of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for choosing local goods and clearly state that you see this as a positive trend. The points about freshness, customer service and keeping money in the national economy are relevant, and the examples of food and electrical products help make the discussion concrete. However, some claims need fuller explanation or more careful qualification. For instance, the link between local purchasing and national development is asserted rather than illustrated, and the claim that imported goods are of “poor quality” is broad. To strengthen the response, explain how local spending supports jobs or businesses and develop one or two examples in greater depth. Your position is clear, but the support is not consistently extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph presenting your view, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to evaluation is easy to follow, and signposts such as “One of the major reasons,” “Without a doubt,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation visible. Some connections between ideas are less smooth, however. The shift from fresh food to customer service and customisation is abrupt, and the economic paragraph lists benefits without showing how they connect. The conclusion also repeats the introduction rather than drawing the main points together. Use clearer links between examples and claims, and vary transitions so the essay does not rely mainly on formulaic signposting.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “locally produced items,” “imported,” “customer service,” “manufacturer,” and “overall development.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “Without a doubt” and “infrastructure.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “enlighten the causes,” “make the impact more stronger,” and “whole nations development.” Spelling errors such as “beacuse” and “coutry,” along with “equipments,” reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make your meaning more precise and help you use a broader range with greater control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “Goods like vegetables, fruits, and dairy products are more likely to be bought within a few days of production” and a conditional-style explanation beginning “in case of any complaint.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “it make the coutry wealthier” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “There is no need to pay taxes to any other country and the amount remains…” joins ideas unclearly. The sentence beginning “While in case of imported items” is also incomplete in structure. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “it is always easy” after a full stop. Practise accurate clause construction and agreement while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
