Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, the export and import buisnesses is increasing but some people prefer to purchase goods that are produced in their local area instead of importing them from other countries. People think that the importing of goods is a time consuming process and the quality does not meet their expectations. From my perspective, this is a positive trend because the things that are produced in the local area can be checked and have better quality.

The products that are purchased from another country may include custom charges which can cause the delay of shipping. As the distance increases, there is rising in the prices. For instance, In Japan, consumers ordered the furniture from Afganistan which is approximately 2000km away due to which they charged extra for the shipping and it took almost twenty days to reach to the primary location. Recent study on the shipping process shows that the custom takes almost seven days to process the payments and parcels which is the main reason to make it a time consuming process. Moreover, the quality also affects during the shipping because it go through different process while transportation.

Furthermore, locally produced goods can be checked by the consumers as well as by the shipper where they made. People visit the sites of manufacturing and select by themselves after carefully watching its quality. It takes about a week from local areas to ship the orders which is also easy to transport. From local areas consumer does not need to be order more number of items.

In conclusion, this is a positive trend because people can get discount if they buy locally produced goods, as the imported goods are more expensive. consumer may ask to change the defective pieces and can easily get refund from local area as it is hard to get refund for imported things. That is the reason vendors are increasingly choosing to buy goods from local area rather than imported goods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you give reasons for choosing local goods, including shipping delays, added charges and concerns about quality, and clearly state that you see this as a positive trend. The example of furniture ordered from Afghanistan helps illustrate the cost and delay point. However, some ideas are less fully explained than others. For instance, the claim that locally made goods “can be checked” is repeated through visiting manufacturing sites, but the response does not explain how common or practical this is. The conclusion adds discounts and easier refunds, which are relevant, but these benefits are introduced late rather than developed in the main paragraphs. Develop each reason with a clear explanation and a specific, credible example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, paragraphs explaining disadvantages of imports and benefits of local goods, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven, and some connections are unclear. The sentence “From local areas consumer does not need to be order more number of items” does not clearly connect to the preceding point about transport. The conclusion also introduces discounts and refunds without preparing these ideas earlier. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main point, then order supporting details so each one develops that point. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow who is buying or shipping the goods.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “custom charges,” “shipping,” “transportation,” “manufacturing,” and “defective pieces,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “time consuming process.” However, word choice and collocation are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive: “the export and import buisnesses” is not a natural way to describe trade, and “the custom takes almost seven days” uses the wrong form and meaning. Spelling errors such as “buisnesses” and “Afganistan” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling; for example, describe customs procedures and say that goods are “subject to additional charges” rather than that they “include custom charges.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “People visit the sites of manufacturing and select by themselves after carefully watching its quality.” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “the export and import buisnesses is increasing” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “it go through different process” needs a correctly formed verb and plural noun. “Consumer does not need to be order” also shows an incorrect verb pattern. Review agreement and verb forms, and practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed main verb.
