Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is considerable debate over the topic that whether individuals should purchase local products instead of buying imported products. There are numerous reasons to support the argument that people must prioritise local goods over imported ones. I believe that it is a positive trend to encourage consumers to buy locally made products.

To begin with, it is very encourging to follow the trend of spending money on local materials rather than imported items. Given the fact that prioritise locally made items will financially support all the local sellers of the market. Consequently, it will play a vital role in reducing poverty. Addtionally, I am of the view that imported products are sometimes over costly compare to imported items beacuse imported items may face taxes like import duty ETC.

Moreover, it will play signifcant part in country's economic goals. Hence, the cash flow will remain within the country and play major role to stabilise the country's economy. In the past, Governments urged their people to purchase local manfuctured products over imported products. For Instantance, in 2010, Government of Pakistan launched a program with moto of " Be Pakistani Buy Pakistani" to encourge people of the country to purchase local goods. Even Government of UK has given special discounts on local products to motivate people to purchase more local goods.

To conclude with, I am of the view that buying products locally is far better suggestion than choosing imported items. By doing so will help the money flow directly to the local traders and sellers of the country and thus enabling financial equality and could result in peace and prosperity in the region.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear view that buying locally is positive and offer relevant reasons, especially support for local sellers and keeping money in the national economy. The Pakistan campaign example also helps make the discussion more specific. However, the task asks why consumers are increasingly making this choice, and your response mainly explains why local purchasing is beneficial rather than identifying the reasons behind the growing preference. The point about imported goods being costly is relevant, but it is unclear and not developed with a concrete explanation or example. The UK discount claim is also asserted without showing how it relates to consumers’ changing choices. Develop both parts more evenly by explaining motivations such as freshness, trust, jobs, or environmental concerns.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” make the main stages easy to follow, and the ideas generally progress from local sellers to the wider economy. However, some links are mechanical, and the relationship between sentences is occasionally unclear. For example, “Given the fact that prioritise locally made items will financially support…” does not connect grammatically to the preceding sentence, while “Consequently” introduces a poverty claim that needs a clearer explanation. The conclusion repeats the main position but adds little synthesis. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and make each paragraph develop one central reason in a more connected sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “local products,” “import duty,” “cash flow,” and “economic goals,” and some choices help convey the economic focus. However, the range is not consistently controlled: several phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “over costly compare to imported items,” which also repeats “imported” where a contrast with local goods is intended. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “encourging,” “Addtionally,” “signifcant,” and “manfuctured,” which reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Some expressions, such as “For Instantance” and “with moto,” are not natural in this context. Aim for precise collocations and proofread spelling so your ideas are expressed more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style opening with “Given the fact that…” and a concluding clause beginning “By doing so…”. Meaning is usually recoverable, but some sentence structures are faulty. For example, “Given the fact that prioritise locally made items will financially support…” lacks a grammatical subject, and “By doing so will help…” needs a subject such as “This” or a gerund phrase. There are also errors in comparison and sentence boundaries: “over costly compare to imported items” is not correctly formed, and there is no space after the full stop in “products.There.” These issues show that complex structures are not yet consistently controlled. Build sentences around clear subjects and verbs, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
