Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: it mentions skills learned (welding, reading drawings), suggests benefits to the company (managing clients, internet marketing), and explains the desire to stay. However, the tone is inconsistent and somewhat informal for a professional request. The prompt asks for a letter to a manager, but the opening 'Dear manager' and the phrasing 'I feel useless' are inappropriate for a formal business context. While the ideas are relevant, they are under-developed; for instance, the transition from a welder to a client-facing role lacks a clear explanation of how the current skills transfer to the new position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited. The sentences are often joined by simple conjunctions like 'and' or 'so', and there is a lack of logical transitions between the points. For example, the jump from discussing welding to wanting to manage customers is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall flow feels mechanical rather than natural. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your ideas more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You use 'company' and 'costumers' (spelled incorrectly as 'costumers' instead of 'customers') frequently. There are several word-choice errors, such as 'how to welding' (should be 'how to weld') and 'resole the problems' (should be 'resolve'). The phrase 'I'm grow' is grammatically incorrect and lexically imprecise. While you attempt to use some business-related terms like 'quotation' and 'career development', the overall range is limited, and the spelling errors (e.g., 'wile' for 'while', 'fo' for 'for') are noticeable and occasionally impede the clarity of your message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with verb tenses ('I worked' instead of 'I have worked'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, such as the opening sentence which is a long string of clauses without a full stop. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'I hope we could work together fo others 10 years'. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and correct tense usage.
