Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state what you have learned in your current role, explain the benefits of your transfer to the Sales department, and provide a convincing reason for wanting to remain with the company. The tone is professional and appropriate for a formal request to a manager. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, showing a clear understanding of the task requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are slightly more detailed, perhaps by providing a specific example of a project or achievement from your current role to further strengthen your case.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition,' 'Because,' and 'Furthermore' (implied). However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is coherent, making the letter easy to read and understand.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.5

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary suitable for a professional context, such as 'formally request,' 'vital step,' 'sharpened,' and 'collaborative culture.' There are a few minor errors, such as 'withing' instead of 'within' and 'it admire' instead of 'I admire.' While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more sophisticated collocations or less common professional terminology would help elevate the response. Overall, your word choice is accurate and appropriate for the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. However, there are several grammatical slips that prevent a higher score. For example, 'Having spend' should be 'Having spent,' and 'I look forward to discuss' should be 'I look forward to discussing.' Additionally, there is a missing article in 'transfer to Sales department' (should be 'the Sales department'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are noticeable. Focusing on verb forms and article usage will help improve your accuracy in future writing.
