Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all three bullet points, but it fails to follow the specific instructions of the prompt. The task asks you to request a move to a 'different department,' but you have instead written a letter requesting a 'promotion' within your current department. This is a significant misinterpretation of the task requirements. While you mention skills learned and your desire to stay with the company, the core purpose of the letter is misaligned with the prompt. To improve, ensure you carefully read the instructions to identify the specific action required (transfer vs. promotion).
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, and the progression of ideas is generally clear. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'I have,' which help the flow. However, the paragraphing is somewhat disjointed, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The use of referencing is occasionally repetitive, which makes the writing feel a bit mechanical. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects back to the main purpose of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'good communication' and 'good leadership,' which are repetitive. There are also some errors in word choice, such as 'quiet' instead of 'quit' and 'good will' instead of 'reputation' or 'positive work environment.' While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to common, everyday language. To improve, focus on using more precise professional terminology and avoid repeating simple adjectives like 'good' throughout your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have several grammatical errors, such as 'I have learn' (should be 'I have learned'), 'as a good leadership' (should be 'as a leader'), and 'invest my all skills' (should be 'invest all my skills'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'a Assistant Manager.' While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to distract the reader. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct article usage will help improve your score.
