Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: mentioning your current learning, suggesting how the company benefits from your move, and explaining your desire to stay. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For example, when discussing the benefits to the company, you simply state you have the qualifications without explaining how your specific skills would add value to the sanitation department. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations and professional justifications for your request. The tone is also somewhat informal for a formal letter to a manager, which affects the overall impact of your communication.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the flow of ideas is often disjointed due to a lack of effective cohesive devices. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures and basic connectors like 'and' or 'moreover' used in a repetitive way. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'apart from this the company pay is higher', where the transition between ideas feels abrupt. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences flow logically from one to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive, often relying on basic words like 'job', 'company', and 'learn'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'summothly' instead of 'smoothly' and 'servies' instead of 'services'. Additionally, some word choices are not appropriate for a formal business context, such as 'my feel about the job'. To improve, you should focus on using more precise professional terminology and proofreading for common spelling mistakes. Expanding your range of collocations—for example, using 'professional development' instead of 'learn more skills'—would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'company do offer' instead of 'company does offer', and 'i have learn' instead of 'I have learned'. Punctuation is also problematic, with many sentences starting with lowercase letters and missing or misplaced periods. You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. To improve, you need to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb tenses and capitalization, and attempt to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions.
