Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state what you have learned, explain the benefits to the company, and provide reasons for wanting to stay. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. For example, the explanation of how the company would benefit is limited to 'I am interested do different types of work,' which is a personal motivation rather than a clear business benefit. To reach a higher band, you should expand on how your new skills or fresh perspective would add value to a different department. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though it lacks a professional polish.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Another thing I want to mention' and 'While,' though some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or are used incorrectly. For instance, starting a sentence with 'While' in this context is grammatically awkward. The progression of ideas is clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea would improve the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your message, but it is quite repetitive and lacks the precision expected at higher levels. Phrases like 'do work' and 'learn a lot of things' are very general. You rely on simple, everyday language rather than professional or business-related terminology. To improve, try to incorporate more specific collocations related to career development and workplace dynamics. For example, instead of 'doing work,' you could use 'contributing to projects' or 'executing tasks.' Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you express your ideas with more nuance and professional authority.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I am writing this letter to requesting you' (should be 'to request'), 'I am interested do different types of work' (should be 'interested in doing'), and 'I am working here for so long' (should be 'have been working'). These errors relate to verb forms, prepositions, and tense usage. While these mistakes do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a lack of control over more complex grammatical structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage will significantly improve your score.
