Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: it mentions skills learned, explains the benefits of the move to the company, and clarifies why the writer wishes to stay. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of benefits is slightly repetitive, and the tone is occasionally inconsistent with a formal business letter (e.g., 'I am really gratitude'). While the purpose is clear, the response would benefit from more professional elaboration on how the specific skills acquired in the current role would translate to the new department. Overall, it addresses the task requirements adequately but lacks the depth expected for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices, though some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'I came to know that' and 'My career evolution not only beneficial for me but also'. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Paragraphing is present, but the structure within the paragraphs is somewhat basic. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is sufficient for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or word form, such as 'I am really gratitude' (should be 'grateful') and 'ordered required' (unclear meaning). The phrase 'career evolution' is slightly unnatural in this context. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'quality checker' and 'domain', the overall range is limited. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more accurate collocations and ensuring that word forms (nouns vs. adjectives) are used correctly in professional contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'I have been proficient to complete' (should be 'able to complete') and 'this place give me' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces before commas and incorrect capitalization of 'i'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb tenses would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
