Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state what you have learned, explain the benefits of your transfer to the company, and provide a convincing reason for wanting to stay. The tone is appropriate for a formal business letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, when mentioning the benefits to the company, you could provide a specific example of how your current skills would translate to a new department. Overall, the response is well-focused and addresses the task requirements effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific requirement of the task, which aids readability. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In particular', 'Therefore', and 'At the same time' to link your ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that transitions between sentences are smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'professional development', 'fundamental', and 'long term success'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'interst', 'responsbilites', 'oppertunity', and 'sucess', which slightly detract from the professional tone. While your word choice is generally clear and appropriate for the context, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated collocations to convey your ideas with greater precision. Proofreading for minor spelling slips would significantly improve your score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as missing articles ('transfer to different department', 'understanding of company's procedure') and minor errors in preposition usage ('with in organization'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication. To improve, focus on article usage and ensure subject-verb agreement is consistent. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also help demonstrate a higher level of grammatical control.
