Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly stated what you learned in your current role, explained the benefits of a transfer, and provided a valid reason for staying with the company. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are more fully developed; for instance, when mentioning 'new skills and values,' providing a specific example of a department you are interested in or a specific skill you wish to acquire would make your argument more persuasive and professional.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph focuses on a specific requirement of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'During my time,' 'However,' and 'I would be really grateful.' While the flow is generally smooth, the transition between ideas could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words. Some sentences are slightly repetitive in structure, which makes the progression feel a bit mechanical at times. Overall, the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning clearly. You use professional phrases like 'career development' and 'different perspectives.' However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'transer,' 'comapany,' 'belive,' 'dpartment,' 'appriciate,' 'greatful,' and 'cinsider.' These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading your work for common spelling mistakes, as these detract from the professional tone of your letter. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise professional collocations would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are consistent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in same company'), incorrect preposition usage ('working here from past two years'), and punctuation issues (comma splices). You also have some subject-verb agreement and tense inconsistencies. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently. To improve, focus on mastering the use of articles and prepositions, and ensure that your sentence boundaries are clearly marked with appropriate punctuation.
