Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points, though the development of ideas is somewhat limited. You mention what you learned (teamwork, time management) and why you want to stay (positive environment). However, the explanation regarding the company's benefit from your move is unclear; you mention needing 'experience of manager' for residency, which is a personal goal rather than a company benefit. To improve, ensure that your arguments focus on how your transfer adds value to the new department, such as applying your existing skills to solve their specific challenges. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal request, though it lacks the professional polish required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks clear paragraphing, which makes the progression of ideas feel disjointed. While there is a logical sequence—starting with your current role, moving to the request, and ending with your commitment to the company—the lack of paragraph breaks makes the text appear as a single block. Cohesive devices are minimal; you rely on simple conjunctions like 'and' or 'but'. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks for each bullet point and incorporate linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your sentences more fluidly and create a more professional structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is functional but basic, and there are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choice. For example, 'I was wondering to say that about my current job' is unnatural, and 'helpful mental health' is grammatically incomplete. You use some relevant business terms like 'time management' and 'goal achievement', but the range is limited. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive sentence starters. Ensure that your word choices are accurate; for instance, instead of saying 'I want to apply to my permanent residency', use 'I am applying for permanent residency'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('I hope you feeling well'), tense usage ('I learnt a lots'), and punctuation. The sentence structure is largely simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Run-on sentences and missing articles (e.g., 'management have') also hinder clarity. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction: ensure every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using commas and periods correctly. Incorporating more complex structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
