Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: detailing past learning, explaining the benefits of a transfer, and expressing loyalty to the company. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how the company would benefit from your transfer is quite brief and could be expanded with more specific examples of how your technical skills would translate to the hardware department. While the task is fully addressed, the depth of the arguments is basic, which prevents it from reaching the higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'At the end' is not the most natural way to conclude a point in this context, and the use of 'Moreover' is slightly repetitive in its function. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the range of linking words is limited, and some transitions feel slightly forced, which keeps the score at a mid-level.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some relevant professional terms like 'software development' and 'technical department'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'request regarding change my department' (should be 'request a change of department') and 'ample of opportunities' (should be 'ample opportunities'). The range is sufficient to communicate, but there is a lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I am with Ajax Limited company from past 2 years' (missing articles and incorrect preposition usage), 'that ultimately beneficial' (missing a verb), and 'I am really enjoy' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. These errors occur regularly, though they do not impede the overall understanding of your request. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
