Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: skills learned, benefits to the company, and reasons for staying. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, the explanation of how the company would benefit from your move is vague, stating only that it is 'good for both company and me' without explaining how your skills would add value to a new department. To improve, you should provide specific examples of how your current experience would translate into success in a different role. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the structure is somewhat informal.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes mechanical. There is a lack of linking words to connect ideas within sentences and between paragraphs. For example, the transition between discussing your skills and the request to move is abrupt. The use of punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences running together and others having unnecessary spaces. Improving the use of transition signals like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' would significantly improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'carrier' instead of 'career', 'hendel' for 'handle', 'easiely' for 'easily', and 'frowned' instead of 'forward'. These errors occasionally make it difficult for the reader to understand your intended meaning. While you attempt to list languages and skills, the range of vocabulary is limited to very simple terms. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise professional terminology and ensuring correct spelling of common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The letter contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your message. There are issues with verb tenses (e.g., 'I did not went to leave'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as 'now I am very confidently headless every things'. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using correct tense forms consistently throughout your writing.
