Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all bullet points required by the task prompt. You state what you have learned in your present job as a Welder, including 'team management, production control to operating machines'. You suggest how the company would benefit by mentioning your recent completion of a 'quality checker' course and how you can assist with 'auditing of final products and raw material'. Furthermore, you explain why you do not wish to leave the company, highlighting the reputed nature of the firm, the supportive management culture, and attractive employee benefits. All parts of the task are appropriately addressed with clear, relevant ideas, earning a solid band score for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a clear overall structure, opening with a standard salutation and ending with a formal sign-off. Paragraphs are used to separate different points, such as your current role, your qualifications for the new department, and your reasons for staying. However, transitions and cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly awkward, as seen in phrases like 'Through the period' instead of 'During this period' and 'For now, company is looking for this position'. Referencing and cohesive devices are generally functional, allowing the reader to follow your progression of ideas easily, but lack the flexibility and sophistication required for higher band levels.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary has an adequate range for the task, allowing you to discuss your job duties, training, and company benefits effectively. You attempt less common items such as 'production control', 'auditing', and 'supportive culture'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text. For instance, you wrote 'interest for applying in department of a quality control' instead of 'interest in applying for the quality control department', and 'employer' instead of 'employee'. Additionally, minor slips like 'vaccations' and 'assest' indicate spelling inaccuracies that prevent a higher score, though your meaning remains clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, your grammar contains several noticeable errors and awkward phrasing. Examples include 'I have been working since, last two years as a Welder' (misplaced comma and missing article) and 'employees can able to get' (incorrect modal verb combination). Punctuation is occasionally faulty, such as comma splices and unnecessary commas separating closely related clauses. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to restrict your score to a band 6.0 under the official descriptors.
