Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all three bullet points required in the task instructions. The writer mentions what they have learned in their present job by noting they have gained knowledge of tax and charges in the finance department. They suggest how the company would benefit from moving them to the sales department due to their inventory knowledge and awareness of slow-moving stock. Finally, they explain why they do not wish to leave the company, citing the convenient location near their apartment and good friendships with colleagues. However, some ideas lack full development, and the tone and structure of the letter are somewhat informal and abrupt in places, which places the response at Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, each addressing a different aspect of the prompt. The writer uses basic cohesive devices to connect ideas, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'Last but not the least'. However, the overall cohesion can be mechanical and awkward in places, such as the transition from the introduction into the body paragraphs. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing, while present, suffers from poor internal sentence linking. The logical progression is generally maintained throughout, giving the text an overall coherent arrangement that aligns with Band 6 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some topic-specific terms like 'finance department', 'inventory', and 'tax and charges'. However, there are numerous noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'writting' instead of writing, 'complete' instead of completed, 'confidented' instead of confident, 'knowlege' instead of knowledge, 'campany' instead of company, 'benifit's' instead of benefits, and 'sepand' instead of spent. These errors highlight a limited control over word formation and spelling, although communication is not impeded, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and plurals. Examples include 'my two years has complete', 'which every employer need to became full-time sale person', 'that have right now', 'there was few car's which are not', and 'that save my time'. While the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, the high frequency of basic grammatical and punctuation errors prevents the score from reaching Band 6, settling comfortably at Band 5.
