Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. The student mentions past learning in their administrative job, suggests how the company would benefit from their technical skills in upcoming projects, and explains why they wish to stay within the company due to the supportive environment and professional relationships. However, some ideas lack full extension and development; for instance, the explanation of benefits to the company is rather brief ('My contribution can make lot of difference in achieving target'). Additionally, there are a few inaccuracies in naming the current job duration ('since last three years' instead of 'for the last three years'). Despite these minor issues, all aspects of the task are appropriately addressed, placing this response firmly in Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with standard letter formatting and a clear paragraph structure. Each paragraph addresses a distinct theme corresponding to the bullet points. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Recently', though some transitional links are slightly mechanical or missing. For instance, the transition into the third paragraph ('Recently, I have completed...') lacks a smooth connective thread to the previous point. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide the introduction, body points, and conclusion, but referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty, preventing the text from reaching a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting some less common lexical items such as 'career development', 'miscellaneous expenses', and 'internal transfer'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors that detract from precision. For example, 'make appointment for clients' should be plural and use a different verb ('make appointments'), and 'I want to IT department' misses the verb 'move' or 'transfer'. There are also minor errors like 'supporting working environment' instead of 'supportive working environment'. Nevertheless, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message without impeding overall communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I would be grateful if you could consider my request' and 'Furthermore, I do not wish to leave this job because of supporting working environment and professional relationships.' However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent minor errors, including missing articles ('transfer me to IT department', 'want to IT department with in company's upcoming projects'), incorrect prepositions ('in company's upcoming projects' instead of 'on'), and tense usage ('I am currently working in Administration department since last three years'). These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, though they do not completely impede communication, aligning the grammar with Band 5.5.
