You started in your present job two years ago. You now feel it is important for your career development to move to a different department in the same company.

Write a letter to your manager. In your letter

• say what you have learned in your present job
• suggest how the company would benefit from moving you to a different department
• explain why you do not wish to leave the company

Dear John,

I am writing this letter to inform you about the great sucess of 2 years in my current role as a Custom rater.

Firstly, it is my pleasure to work under your guidence and support for 2 years. Additionally, with all the practical knowledge of working in customs, I recently passed the Canadian Customs Security exam with A grade. However, I believe that having the certificate which tends to be with high recognition in our field, my position as a custom rater should be transfered to management department.

As a result, having an experience of 2 years and the certificate will have a significant impact on the management sector, where I can bring my expertise of having impense knowledge of Canadian customs and help the company to grow more.

However, I do not have any immediate plans to resign from the position and the company as the work culture is extremely satisfying. All the staff seems to be very friendly and helpful and I hope if I am the transffered to the management sector, the current staff from the management would be very much happy to have me there as their new colleague.
