Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, successfully covering what has been learned in the present job, suggesting company benefits, and explaining the desire to stay within the company. However, some aspects are developed more fully than others. For instance, the explanation of what has been learned is slightly repetitive regarding communication skills and confidence, and the suggestion of how the company benefits focuses mainly on personal career progression rather than broader organisational advantages. The tone is generally appropriate for a semi-formal workplace request, fulfilling the communicative purpose adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, where each paragraph corresponds to a distinct prompt requirement. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'In addition' and 'Since working here', though some referencing is occasionally faulty or mechanical, such as 'Elaborating why i do not want to replace this company'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving smoothly from past learning to future career moves and reasons for staying, which meets the requirements of the band fully and shows glimpses of clearer overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts to use less common lexical items such as 'gratitude', 'organisation', and 'amiable'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation, such as writing 'recuiter' instead of 'recruiter', 'supportative' instead of 'supportive', and 'collegueas' instead of 'colleagues'. Awkward collocations like 'express my gratitude against the things' also appear. These errors do not impede communication, but they reflect a limited and developing range of vocabulary appropriate for this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and participial clauses like 'Since, I joined your department i got opportuniy to engage...'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('got opportuniy', 'support performance'), incorrect prepositions ('gratitude against'), and faulty tense usage ('I would really thankful'). Punctuation slips, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, are also present. These errors require some effort from the reader to interpret, though meaning is generally preserved.
