Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Ram,
I am writing you to inform you about my placement in the production department in our same company. Under your guidance I learned the all the skils of sales executive to handel the the customers queries about our products, which helped me to understand the customer requirenments very well.
I would like to share the news about my shifting from sales department to production house which can help our company in a great way as I have learned the customers basic demand in our product which can help to improve the quality of our prodcut.
It is only a change of department for the betterment of our company and it is also very important to move ahead in my carrier as you know that one must work hard to get a good growth in carrier for the better of life and self satisfaction. I do not have any intention to leave the company because still i believe that I have to learn more and this is possible in this very company only.
good day
Regards

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, though the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the letter mentions what was learned in the present job ('skills of sales executive to handel the the customers queries'), and touches upon company benefits and loyalty to the firm. However, these points are repetitive and lack full elaboration. The position regarding why you want to move and why you wish to stay is understandable, but the expression of these ideas is frequently hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of depth, placing the task achievement at this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic organization to the letter, moving from the current role to the proposed department shift and reasons for staying. However, there is no clear overall progression due to repetitive phrasing and abrupt transitions. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences tend to run together or feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or inaccurate way, such as repeating 'which can help' multiple times in close proximity. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous connection between the first and second paragraphs regarding the current and future departments.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'handel' instead of handle, 'requirenments' instead of requirements, 'prodcut' instead of product, and 'carrier' instead of career. These lexical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted range of vocabulary, preventing the response from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or awkwardly strung-together complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as article misuse ('in our same company', 'the all the skils'), prepositional errors, and repetitive verb patterns. These frequent errors cause strain and occasional difficulty for the reader, which aligns with this specific band level.
