Dear ....................................,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to address my concerns over switching my current role in a different position within a company.

Although I learned a lot about a present job in testing department, I also have skills regarding coding language, so I am seeking my role in IT daprtment. One of the main lessons I learned from testing was the importance of ensuring that electronic products meet required standards, follow 5S principles, and comply with quality reporting procedures.

I heard that you looking for new candidate for a IT role, so why can't you consider me as I have some experience in backend coding of website in software industry. Your company would benefit from selecting me for this position. Not only would it save time and resources that would otherwise be spent recruiting and training a new employee, but it could also rely on my existing knowledge and experience. Since I have been working for this company for the past two years, I am already familiar with its procedures, expectations, and quality standards.

I am not thinking to left this job because your company gave me several benefits including promotins, competive salary and I have a security not to loose my job.

I hope you consider this request and offer me a chance for interview for new role as I required it so much.

Yours Sincerely,

Dharmik

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you describe learning about product standards and quality procedures, explain how your existing company knowledge could reduce recruitment and training costs, and give reasons for staying, including benefits and job security. The request to move into IT is also clear. However, the learning point is more specific and developed than the reasons for remaining: “promotions, competitive salary” and security are listed but not explained, and the opening phrase “address my concerns” does not accurately signal that you are making a career-development request. Develop why staying matters to you and connect your testing experience more explicitly to how it would help in the IT role. This would make the response more consistently complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall progression: it introduces the request, discusses your current skills, explains the company’s potential benefit, and closes with a request for an interview. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and linking structures such as “Not only would it save…” and “Since I have been working…” support the explanation. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some flexibility in cohesion. At times, however, the links between ideas could be clearer: the opening refers to “concerns,” while the letter is actually a proposal, and the final paragraph repeats the request without summarising the case. Use a more direct opening and make the transition from your testing experience to your suitability for IT explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant workplace vocabulary, including “quality reporting procedures,” “backend coding,” “recruiting and training,” and “procedures, expectations, and quality standards.” These choices communicate the main ideas and show some range beyond basic vocabulary. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, for example “daprtment,” “promotins,” “competive,” and “loose” for “lose.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “address my concerns over switching” and “I am not thinking to left this job.” Choose conventional professional expressions and proofread spelling carefully. More precise language for your motivation and transferable skills would make the letter sound more natural and convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms. The sentence beginning “Not only would it save time and resources…” is a useful example of a controlled complex structure, and “Since I have been working for this company…” gives a clear reason. Some grammatical errors remain, though the overall meaning is generally understandable. Examples include “you looking” instead of “you are looking,” “a present job” instead of “my present job,” and “I am not thinking to left,” which needs a different verb pattern, such as “I do not wish to leave.” There are also article and preposition problems in “a IT role” and “offer me a chance for interview.” Review verb forms, articles, and common patterns after verbs such as “wish” and “consider” to improve accuracy.
