Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this letter to request you to change my department in your company. Currently, I am working as an assistant manager in recovery department. I have learned communication skills and teamwork under the supervision of Sir Shehzad. I also got training in the use of modern AI modulation while working in this department.

However, I recently completed my master in web development. Now I am eager to excell my skills in web development and modern software programme, for which I am intrested to join the Webmicron department of the company.

During my masters, I enhnced my skills on the use of modern technology and automation. Moreover, I also have experience of using recent tools in graphics.

My appointment in this department will benefit the company too. Through my experience of automation, the company will be able to develop software for all the international clients.

honestly, I have an offer from other company too but I do not want to leave this place as I have learned project management and interpersonal skills.

Thank you for your understanding and coperation. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Samra

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points and make your purpose clear: you request a move, describe learning communication and teamwork, and explain that you want to remain with the company despite another offer. The proposed benefit—using your automation experience to develop software for international clients—is relevant. However, some points are less fully explained than others. For example, you mention training in AI and graphics, but do not show how these skills would be applied in the Webmicron department. The reason for staying is also brief and focuses mainly on what you have learned, rather than explaining why this company is preferable to the other offer. Develop these links to make the case more persuasive and complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall sequence: it states the request, describes your experience and qualifications, presents a benefit to the company, and explains why you wish to stay. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and transitions such as “However” and “Moreover” guide the reader. This coherent arrangement meets the task well. Some connections are less smooth, though: the shift from your master’s degree to the company’s benefit could explain more directly how your web-development skills would support its clients. The final reason for staying is also introduced abruptly with “honestly.” A more formal transition and clearer links between each qualification and the proposed role would make the progression more polished.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of workplace and technology vocabulary, including “communication skills,” “project management,” “automation,” and “international clients.” These choices make your purpose and experience understandable, and you attempt more specific terms suited to the proposed department. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “excell,” “intrested,” “enhnced,” and “coperation.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “modern AI modulation” and “my appointment in this department.” These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but careful proofreading and more natural collocations would strengthen the letter’s professional tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and most ideas remain clear. For example, “Through my experience of automation, the company will be able to develop software for all the international clients” shows an attempt to explain a consequence, while “as I have learned project management and interpersonal skills” gives a reason for staying. Some grammatical errors remain. In “I recently completed my master,” the noun needs a suitable form, and “I am eager to excell my skills” uses an incorrect verb construction. The sentence beginning “During my masters” also needs clearer grammatical phrasing. Review articles, possessives, and verb patterns, while retaining your attempts at varied sentence structures.
