Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir

My name Shivani, I am from Quality Assurance Department workinf as QA Specailist in Afternoon shift. I wanted to talk to you about the position that has opendend in your department which I would be perfect fir for it.

To start with my current job responsiblitity, I have a leraned the basic understanding such as taking authority of my work, Perfectionist of my task, work under pressure and specifically priortizing the workload. Moreover, I have a capability of owning my mistake ans work towards it.

As the Regulatory Division as an opening , I think it would be great opportunity for me as I have a Masters degree in it and top of that I have achieved the basic root knowledge by leaning towards QA role. Because of that, it might be perfect for the company to switch my role and it wouls benifit the comapany as it does not have to train from the scrath.

Apart from this, I really do not wish to change the job as it became a familiar where I can grow my self and company together rather than doing for opposite company.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three requested points: you describe skills gained in Quality Assurance, explain how your background could help in Regulatory, and state that you want to remain with the company. The reasons are relevant, especially your master’s degree and the company’s reduced need for training. However, some points are only partly clear or developed. For example, “Perfectionist of my task” does not explain a specific skill, and the benefit to the company is mostly limited to avoiding training costs. Your reason for staying—being familiar with the workplace and growing together—is also brief. Make the request explicit, develop each benefit with a concrete example, and use a suitable closing to complete the letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally coherent sequence: it introduces the request, describes learning in the current role, explains the potential move, and gives a reason for staying. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points, and transitions such as “To start with,” “Moreover,” and “Apart from this” guide the reader. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the relationship between ideas is occasionally unclear. For instance, “Because of that” refers broadly to the previous sentence, while the benefit of your QA experience in Regulatory could be explained more directly. The opening also moves quickly from your identity to the vacancy. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each skill to a specific contribution in the new department.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant workplace vocabulary, including “Quality Assurance Department,” “Regulatory Division,” “prioritizing the workload,” and “under pressure.” This gives the letter an appropriate professional focus. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow: “responsiblitity,” “leraned,” “Perfectionist of my task,” and “familiar” in the final paragraph. Phrases such as “basic root knowledge” and “train from the scratch” are also not natural collocations. Aim for accurate, conventional expressions rather than trying to make phrases sound elaborate; proofreading spelling and checking collocations would make your meaning clearer and more professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The letter attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including the conditional idea “it might be perfect for the company to switch my role” and a reason introduced by “as.” However, errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. The opening, “My name Shivani, I am from Quality Assurance Department workinf as QA Specailist,” lacks a clear verb structure and has several clauses joined without appropriate punctuation. Other examples include “I have a leraned” and “it became a familiar where I can grow my self,” where the verb forms and sentence construction are faulty. Practise complete sentences, articles, and verb patterns, then proofread for punctuation and sentence boundaries.
