Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Mr Smith,
Firstly i will introduce my self, i am Lovepreet Singh working in your company from last two years as a window installer. While doing this job i really learn such a great things such as how to talk with clients while visiting their home and how to do work in an safer way.
Last month i got an medical emergency related to my heart and docters suggest me to commit this job because with this medical condition it is also hard for me to do this job but i wish you can move me in office department because i really have good skills. I can easily deal with clients and i also provide training to our new installers how to do work in a safer way with my experience.
I don't want to commit this job because the environment of our company is really very positivie, i really feel i work with my family not with colleagues. It feels like home for me.
Witing for your positive responce,
Yours faithfully,
Lovepreet Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the main purpose and all three bullet points: you describe learning to communicate with clients and work safely, propose moving to an office department, and explain your attachment to the company. The health issue also gives a relevant reason for requesting a change. However, the benefits to the company are only briefly stated: your client-handling skills and ability to train installers are useful, but you could explain more clearly how these would support the office team or improve company operations. The reason for staying is warm but general, and the request itself could be made more direct and professionally framed. These ideas are relevant, though some remain under-developed and the purpose is not consistently expressed with clarity.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces your role and learning, explains the requested transfer and its benefits, then gives your reason for staying and closes politely. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and phrases such as “Last month” signal a change in the discussion. Some connections are less smooth, however. “Firstly i will introduce my self” is unnecessary because the manager presumably knows you, and the transition from your medical condition to your skills could be clearer. The final paragraph repeats the idea of a positive workplace through “family” and “home.” A more direct opening and clearer links between the health reason, transfer request, and company benefit would make the progression more effective.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including relevant terms such as “window installer,” “clients,” “training,” and “medical emergency.” However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or informal choices make the letter less natural and occasionally less clear. For example, “commit this job” does not express the intended meaning; “leave this job” or “continue in this role” would be clearer. “Do work in an safer way” and “positivie” also show problems with collocation and spelling. Some phrases, such as “really very positivie,” are repetitive. Aim for precise workplace language, such as “transfer,” “department,” and “contribute,” while checking spelling and common word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your response includes both simple sentences and attempts to connect ideas with clauses, for example, “because with this medical condition it is also hard for me to do this job.” These attempts show some range, but complex sentences are often not controlled accurately. Errors include “i am … working … from last two years,” where the tense and time expression need correction, and “docters suggest me,” where the verb pattern and tense are faulty. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “such a great things” and “in an safer way.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly the lowercase “i” and the long, loosely joined sentences. Practise accurate past and present-perfect forms, articles, and shorter sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
