Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points and make your purpose clear: you want to move from the front desk to the social media marketing team. You describe learning communication and problem-solving, explain that your marketing education and knowledge of company policies could help the team, and give reasons for staying, including supportive colleagues and a positive workplace. These relevant details meet the task well. However, some points are less fully developed: the connection between your front-desk experience and understanding customers’ needs could be explained more clearly, and the benefits to the company are listed rather than illustrated with a specific contribution you could make. A more formal opening and a precise request for a transfer would also strengthen the letter’s overall effectiveness.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible overall sequence: it introduces the request, discusses your experience and potential value, explains why you want to remain, and closes politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these main points, and phrases such as “because” and “also” make some relationships clear. The progression is generally easy to follow, though several ideas are crowded into long sentences, particularly the paragraph about your qualifications and the company’s benefits. Some linking is mechanical, and the transition from your customer insight to marketing strategy is not fully explained. Use shorter sentences to separate each benefit, and make the links between your experience, the proposed role, and the company’s needs more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “problem solving,” “marketing strategy,” “company policies,” and “perspectives.” However, word choice and collocation are often imprecise, and spelling errors are noticeable. Examples include “promoted me” for a request to move departments, “do not need to spend cost and energy,” and “a outside person.” The repeated use of general words such as “things” and “so many” also limits precision. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding your purpose, but they make the letter less natural and professional. Aim for accurate workplace expressions and check spelling carefully, especially in key terms such as “position,” “professional,” and “learned.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a sentence linking your qualifications to the company’s potential benefits. The main message remains understandable, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, “my name is maninder am i am working” contains an unclear sentence structure, while “from past two years” and “what people basic need” show problems with articles, tense, and word order. Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, making relationships between clauses harder to follow. Use a clear subject and verb in each sentence, maintain consistent tense when describing your experience, and review articles and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts easier to read.
