Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 79 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the prompt asks to discuss both views and provide an opinion, the essay is incomplete, lacking a full discussion and a coherent conclusion. The ideas presented are very limited and under-developed, failing to provide the necessary depth or supporting examples required for a higher band score. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words and fully expand on each viewpoint before stating your own position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response lacks a clear overall structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the text is too brief to demonstrate effective logical progression or the use of cohesive devices. The transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt, and the ideas are not linked in a way that guides the reader through an argument. To improve, focus on using transition signals such as 'however', 'furthermore', and 'consequently' to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to express complex ideas. Phrases like 'bad idea' and 'good to follow' are simplistic. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'Photographers are followed actor/actress', which should be 'Photographers follow actors and actresses'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to privacy, media, and celebrity culture to enhance your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. For example, 'Photographers are followed actor/actress' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'Photographers follow actors'. There is also a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing sentences suffer from errors in verb tense and subject-verb agreement. The punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the use of complex sentences with subordinate clauses.
